Unofficial Pi Position Q&A & Support Thread

Installed Jason's Arcade Pi Position. Can not change the speed to 244mph and the skid noise is really bad. People have said that it is in the dip switch settings on mame but that is simply not the case. Is there any fix for this? No one seems to have a clear answer.

I bought one of these years ago, had the problem with the gas pedal not working right (before all the others had issues) and gave up. Years later, seeing all the other people who had problems and advice, pulled the machine out and tried all the fixes. I cleaned the pot (took it apart ), no change. I adjusted the position of the pot resting place and still no help. Basically one time you turn it on and it will play perfect. On a reboot, it may be backwards, or not. Did anyone ever come up with a fix that actually works?

So I'm not having any luck getting my brand new Pi-position to boot at all, I've run a happ power-pro switcher to supply my 5v and double checked all of my hook ups/connector orientation etc, original AR2's are completely disconnected so I'm getting a simple 5.0v in at the board from the switcher only,
I've tried a bundle of different USB cables in the various ports at been extremely careful as I know the headers for the cables are fragile, anyway I've got the red and the green blinking activity light on my pi 3b+ but I'm only getting one solid red light on the Arduino controller and it gets very hot to the touch, I've searched online and there are suggestions this heat may be normal but it seems a bit odd to me.. can anyone confirm if theirs is the same?
Beginning to run out of ideas here and beginning to wonder if the Arduino is at fault???

Another strange point is that there are references online that state the Arduino needs more then 5v to operate…so do I need to slightly up the voltage from my PSU perhaps?

I highly doubt it but I will certainly check it out, how can I tell if it's an older 3b+ or a newer one?
Will that explain the single red light on the micro controller? And again, is it normal for the micro controller to run hot to the touch while it's operating?

Is there a difference between Raspberry Pi 3B+ older and 3B+ newer?:

Although it is said that updating the firmware (https://pip.raspberrypi.com/categor...cuments/RP-003476-WP/Updating-Pi-firmware.pdf) should solve the problem, in this specific case I have no information.

I think this is what was happening to @pang0018, in this post he commented on how to fix it: https://forums.arcade-museum.com/th...sition-q-a-support-thread.478900/post-4838304

I can't help you with the color code on the arduino or the temperature. I don't have the machine at hand.

Excellent info, will check this out today for sure - thanks!

Hello everyone,
I picked up a P/P for cheap and it came with the original PCB and the Pi Position. The Pi works perfectly with P/P and P/P2 and I want to add more racing games. My question does anyone have a list of the working games and do I just dump the zip file to the ROMS folder? I tried to add Super Sprint but it will not load. All it does is bounce to P/P and P/P2. Any advice would be great. Thanks

I can't get my Pi Position to sync the Vertical hold on a G07 or a K7000 monitor, We have tried (4) different monitors with the same results. The monitor sync's fine with other games and a test generator.

Is there any setting, software update or fix out there? What am I missing?

Running a Pi3 B (Not a Plus)

Thanks Kevin

I recently purchased Pi Position with Raspberry Pi 3B+. I've imaged a 32GB card (2021updaterev2) and copied over the Pole Position roms. BTW: there were two roms already there which I copied over.

When I connected this to Pole Position, I wasn't able to see anything and it looked like there was a sync issue, but there was no game playing in the background.

When I tried to connect just the Raspberry Pi (no Pi Position board) to an LCD via HDMI and powered separately, I only get a rainbow screen.

I've reimaged the card twice, no changes. When I reimaged the card using RetroPie, that worked just fine.

What step did I miss here?

Nevermind, I got it. This post solves it: https://forums.arcade-museum.com/th...q-a-support-thread.478900/page-4#post-4461910

I was putting the text in the wrong file. It needs to go into `config.txt` instead of arcpi-config.txt

Pi-position for sale here, I really struggle with the computer side of it and have to visit a non-arcade friend for help each time, so yeh I've not had success getting it to work and just not got the time to give it so therefore moving on with other cab projects.
shoot me a pm if interested 👍

I am able to get my PI Position to work great PP and PP2 works great. my issue is when I try to add Super Sprint and Indy Heat they won't load. it just bounces to PP and PP2. can someone look at my ROM folder and see if I'm doing something wrong?
Thanks😁

Ok, I sent the board, pi , usb cable and sd card to Jason to test. Turns out the issue was the usb cable. Apparently you need to use a usb cable that is for data transfer and not for charging only. I didn't know there was a difference. This is all new to me. But if you have an issue with no steering, no pedal, no shifter and no coin up its the cable. Problem solved!
This was my issue thank you.
