I'm not sure what this component is and whether or not it's possible to obtain another. Its from a Sharp Image 27 inch chassis. There's a picture of another SI chassis that shows it intact with markings FCDC 09M270. Another picture of the designation marking PTC801 J801 and a picture of the one I need to replace all busted up. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Dan

I'm familiar with the ones used in 6100 monitors, which have two circular discs. I *think* the ones that look like that all do, but I'm not 100% sure.

You can get replacements on ebay, etc. They come in different values, which determine how much current they pass initially, and how fast they cut it off. So ideally you'd need to dig up the specs for the one used in that particular monitor, but it's likely any one that is stated to be used for TV applications will work 'good enough'.

Probably not. You want one rated for 120V, not 240V.

Find the manual for your monitor (or try to read the part number for the one you have, if there's any info on any of the parts). Google any part numbers you can find, and try to match the characteristics.

Also see this thread. That's all I can do for you.
