Hi fellas,

Just got a candy cab and I noticed it has an odd connector inside that I am unfamiliar with....I am hoping one of you fellas can give me some insight into what it is....

It would be great if it allowed a direct connection to a computer but that is unlikely....or is it??? It does look like a monitor cord connector though.....

Also, I am having linearity issues so feel free to comment in the monitor tech section where I posted the specifics......

thanks

C.

vga connection for monitor

What candy cab is it? What monitor is it?

If you have a tri res monitor you can hook up a PC, Xbox, or pretty much anything with up to 640 x480 resolution.

It's an ok baby candy cab. Not sure if monitor as I am away from the game right now.

. It has a jumper for a 15 or 24 setting on the monitor board

It has a VGA plug as another poster identified.

What I am hoping is that I can connect a mame computer directly to this without need for arcadevga or something similar. Can anyone comment on how this connector works? I did not see any setting on the monitor for switching to 31 resolution so I am guessing its automatic when the VGA is used.

I am used to older cabs so this fancy plastic cab is new for me.

Sounds like a dual res, so no VGA. You'll still have to feed a standard or medium resolution signal through that connector.

Yes palladin is correct. I found a foreign flyer for ok cabs and it said dual res in it. Crap. So I still need an arcade VGA or 15soft. Oh well, no one said collecting was cheap I guess.

I am wondering if I will still have linearity issues if I run mame vs running a jrok or Phoenix multi board. I was hoping to eliminate the issue by running mame. If at 15 I have issues then I suspect the issue will be there regardless. I think??
