I recently bought a Universal Feature Bell slot machine. I found very little information about this machine on the web and would be interested in any knowledge the forum members here could tell me about it. I did find a company that sells schematics for this machine and have one on the way.
Here it what I do know about this unit:
I was manufactured around 1950.
It is a console model.
It was once owned by Alstate Coin Machine Co. of Las Vegas, Nevada.
It does work, but not entirely. The reels spin and that portion of the machine appears to work correctly. But it doesn't always pay out when it should. I have no doubts there are other things that aren't working as they should as well.
It is electro-mechanical. Lots of relays, cams, springs and contacts. Many of the relays and contact points are dirty and in need of cleaning. I'm sure all the moving parts (reels, cams, etc) could also use some cleaning and lubricating. I'm waiting on the schematic and any advice I can find before I do any involved troubleshooting and maintanence.
I don't have any keys for this machine, but of the 3 locks on it, only the door to the upper display panel remains locked. I have heard that these locks can be drilled, but I personally do not have any experience in this area and am hesitant to do this at this point. I'm hoping a key can be obtained or advice from someone who knows how to remove the lock safely. There are, from what I have been told, spare bulbs stored in this area. And for sure, there are bulbs in this machine that need to be replaced. I'm hoping they are still available.
I do thank you all for any information on this machine you can pass along. I'm hoping to put it back into tip-top shape.
