Just picked up a United UPB-100 Juke, non working but it is complete. The person I got it from said it used to work but over time it just stopped working. My question is, is it worth trying to get this thing going or is it going to be a never ending money pit? This is my first Juke, and I wanted to start with a project so that I can learn as I go.

Interesting, I've never seen one like that. Kinda reminds me of a washing machine. :D

Did it come with any 45s?

One of the most remarkable productions of the Silver Age, the United Music Corporation, came up with a line of four models in the late fifties. The first two models, the UPA-100 and UPB-100, and the carousel mechanism and finally the design for the Ultra Compact Wall-Box resulted in four patents by Lyndon A. Durant. Raymond Loewy is often related to the design of the United series, but the correct name on the patents is Lyndon A. Durant. The industrial design legend Raymond Loewy was one of the architects of the American Streamline Movement, and his style surely influenced the design of the United jukeboxes. The models, UPA-100, UPB-100, UPC-100, and UPD-100, produced from 1957 until 1961 never became a success, as they were almost unrivalled in the capacity to radiate absolutely nothing, and the Seeburg Corporation finally bought up the company in 1964 (also taking over the Williams company).

i copied the above from the net.

that unit looks interesting. at least try to get it running. having all the parts present is half the battle.

Interesting, history there, I found a little info about production numbers and it doesn't seem there are very many so I guess if I get it going that will be kind of cool.

What's the best method to tackle these beasts? Just verify everything is hooked up and plug it in? I don't want to mess anything up, I noticed there is some rust on the leaf switches and things like that, hopefully the solenoids aren't all frozen. I guess I will try to manually move all of the parts verify everything is hooked up and clean leaf switches.

Think it would be a wise idea to replace all of the wiring overtime? I know there is a shit load of it but it's all so old I figure it's only a matter of time before something burns up.

Thanks for the help, are then any other juke forums out there that have more activity?

upb-100

I got the same juke in my arcade, works beautiful and sounds fantastic. Def. worth fixing. It has 6 different motors but is pretty straight forward, I have schematics if you need a copy.

Sorry man, mine has been in the same spot for the past year and a half and I haven't had a chance to work on it. Too many other projects are in line before I even attempt to fix this bad boy. Try posting up your issues and maybe some one can help you, I do have the manual and schematics if you need me to look at anything.

United Jukebox

pmichelsen I still have the manual for my Jukebox, thanks anyway. My dad and I have worked a little on the Jukebox and now my dad thinks the ferris wheel that holds all the 45's is dirty and needs to be cleaned and oiled. When we select a 45 and when the ferris wheel is moving selecting the 45 the Jukebox blows a fuse. The next time my dad and I work on our Jukebox we will try to clean it and oil it and put a new fuse in it and go from there. If you get your Jukebox working would you please keep me posted on how you get it working and what was wrong with yours.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Upb 100

Hi,
I have just gotten me a 1959 united UPB100 and it doesnt work. I think that its the credit computer, any ideas on how I could get it to work? The only thing that the machine won't do is allow me to select songs but if I push the relays it will load and play songs but have to push the load button to change to different records.

any help would be appreciated, thank you!

I own an older version of your jukebox . It's a UPA - 100 and it works good but I am having a hard time finding parts for it . I bought a manual for it from Victoria Glass in N, Y. and it is quite small but does have the schematics and a few trouble shooting hints.
If you come across any parts or a wallbox unit , could you please keep me in mind? Keep me posted on your progress with your jukebox . Good Luck

Hey pmichelsen if you are still on her I have some info you might like. I own the same United Jukebox that you own. Mine did not work for years. I believe it was back in 2011 that I found a guy who could repair mine for me. Here is the website for him if you would like to contact him.

Hello all,

I just registered to this forum in hope to meet some people who have a working United UPB 100 jukebox. So if there is anyone outside please let me know. I'm looking forward to get some experiences how to build up a non working machine or how the machine looks and sounds when it has been brought back to life :)
Many thanks in advance!

United
