I have a Unisystem PCB with SMB running on it. I also have it running on an RGB LCD monitor and piped through an original Nintendo inversion/audio board.

Everything plays fine and all the color adjustments work well too. The only issue is that there are vertical lines on the entire screen (more prominent in the darker colors) that should not be there. Its not enough that you cant play and enjoy the game but I would like to fix it if possible. I have ruled out the monitor as it plays other boards without issue. I have another Nintendo inversion/audio board that I swapped out and it did not improve. I am pretty sure its something on the main PCB that needs repair but I am not sure where to look. Any help would be appreciated.,

Thanks,

Is there a place on the PCB I can look or a CAP kit for the video portion of the PCB?

Caps for the video portion are located above and below the color adjustment red green blue plastic screws on the board, one set for the left side, the other for the right side game. Worth a shot to replace them.

Do the lines disappear and then get retraced when moving mario through certain background images of the level,

Nintendo used so many caps on everything! it's actually incredible that the power supplies and boards haven't needed caps more considering their age.

security, get back to work lol

Thanks for the replay guys!

I do not know if the lines follow the play or they are stationary. I would assume they follow the play but I will verify tonight.

Would cap replacement improve video quality and issues like I am seeing?
