So I'm brainstorming my eventual home arcade and it got me thinking about how I would lay the land. I'm never against packed rows of games, but was wondering what others have done in the way of a unique arrangement for the cabinets. I've seen a half circle layout against the wall which I think is pretty cool looking cuz you can also display the sideart.

So let's post some pics of your uber cool layouts!!

Enter, the Ninty Swastika:

Gotta have an island in the center to maximize space. I'm going to turn a three car garage into (mostly) a game room (if all goes well), here's the layout I worked out in Sketchup.

You NEED Google Sketchup.

You the best o both worlds there gibbous, a funky island and a packed row

The island is funky to allow room to sit at that troublesome cocktail. Still not sure if I'm going to end up keeping that thing. But it works as it is. It would be cool to do something more unique, but I gotta maximize space.

Looks good so far. If I had that much space I'd probably put a couple more in the middle, and spread the outside machines to see the artwork more.

Here is the preliminary for mine however im running out of room and i still have 5 games left to place, UMK3, Multiwilliams, Neo Geo, Astro City and a cocktail table as well as 2 slot machines. I need more space!

I have about 10 feet to the right of the mario widebody left as well as maybe space for 2 pins across from the mario widebody.

So how do you get the Glass out of that bottom pin? Move Baby Pac I assume...

I like that little U-shape you got goin on with that offroad. -Back to back cabinets with the offroad on the end-

Yeah. Good thing it's got wheels.

I have a large space to the lower left in that pic, I suspect I'll be putting more shelves in there, so I won't be able to back the pin up.

I'll try to get pics later, but I have cabs on every wall of the garage and then an "island" of cocktails/chairs in the middle. It's worked pretty well so far and let me cram in a LOT more games than I expected it would.

A few layout tips:

The Rows on opposite sides are a must to maximize space but you can't show side art. The swastika islands are great if you have enough room to in the center for showing off that awesome side art and moving around to play. And you can arrange two of them in different directions to maximize playing space. Plus, you can center them around metal poles if you are in a basement. Back walls are great for cockpits, skeeballs, popashots, and pinballs. But you could always go 4 rows if you want to maximize playable space. Two down the left and right walls and 2 back to back in the center. You can get a lot of URs in there, but pins, and sit downs are pretty much too cramped. It all depends on the width you start with. I have an area about 16x12-15. And with 16 foot of width, I have 11 or 12 cabs in the area and that's including a pinball and a cockpit Star Wars. You pretty much have to figure that games are 2.5 feet deep. so if you have 2 on the sides, that's 5 feet. Two in the middle would be 5 more feet. So if you had 16 feet of width, you would only have 3 foot aisles to walk down. It pretty much makes you feel jammed in. Now if you had a width of 20 foot. You would have 5 foot walk ways down the 2 ailes which would be about perfect. And as a general rule, just say NO to Air Hockey and pool tables as they are real estate hogs.

Hope that helps.
