I picked this up at the end of the year with 7 other games out a barn in Arkansas. Totally Mr Do! out with screen burn and all. I tried sell/trade it with no action I thought would be impossible to find everything I needed but then got reminded where I am :D The harness that was in it, im guessing mr do. it was hacked onto the power supply and has an edge connector. I peeled the overlay off too reveal what's there of the graphics and there is two holes on each side of flight stick hole sadly. I think the cabinet itself is pretty solid and not bad cosmetically. The bezel super flakey! It is at my art department.... mom's. I used triple thick on it but she has been authorized to do whatever it takes :D

This got kicked off when redfive offered up a complete uprights harness and cage although I will have to test / and/or repair. I also have some of the bits I don't need like the rank pcb. I will have to figure out what to do with the unused connectors and wires in the harness and I would like to know what a Gorf Driver Board is for. It seems to have only been used in cocktails and cabarets, not uprights. I am going to keep but I am *not* going to use the original power supply, I am using a switcher. I also know it may be impossible to find unlike luckola ralphola, but I need a marquee! I will probably get one made on plexi close to the same size as the cut down mr do that was in it because it actually held in well. I never had a cabaret or a gorf any size so expect some drama! :D

It's been a wild ride but a flight stick will be here in a week or so I won't be using it yet lol.

Gorf is an amazing game. I still think its underrated. Looking forward to the restore progress.

I can barely remember playing it as a kid, but I actually like Galaxians, Space Invaders etc so I will have no problem playing Gorf, can't wait. I have a "space" room so it only makes sense! thanks! Figuring out this upright harness in cabaret now :/ :)

Always good to hear about barn finds. And multiple game ventures. It just has a "going to Disneyland" feel to it for me.

Anyway, keep us posted - guess its better than UnGorfing a Mr Dingleberry

How did you cover the drilled hole in control panel bondo?
Hello there, sorry for delayed response. I have my cabinet except for the 13" chassis so I still have not addressed the two holes but I fully plan to bondo unless something changes. I know I won't be able to match perfectly at all but may also cover with plexi if helps with appearance.

Ok! Finally getting back to this after being interrupted happily by Monaco GP FPGA solution halleluiah. I was never able to find a cabaret harness so I have hopefully installed an upright harness correctly in a cabaret. I didn't cut length, etc, it's all in there. I would like to know more about this flight stick (THANKS TO) @bobbyb13 for an amazing rebuilt stick. I never had a harness for the control panel so I am left having to make it up. I have the 12 pin molex and a 10 pin on the other part. Looking at the manual I just don't see all my connections and are the circled numbers the location on the 12 pin? Basically I have all the parts I just need to wire the 12 pin connector to the buttons and flight stick :) I haven't tried powering it on yet (gulp) ever. The tube is not installed and connected but that's it and this control panel harness. Also, here is a pic with custom marquee from Szabo's came through! Took 5 months but they answered the one email half way through and that was enough for me to hang tight and they delivered. It's a little unorthodox not being the box type marquee that I learned the cabarets had. But I cut it the same as the mr do marquee they had cut and installed bitd. I tested some 12v bulbs with it looked fine.

Any help making up the harness is welcomed

That 5 pin harness you show from the schematic goes through to the head of the stick and is for the fire button and for the Control PC there to fire off that bulb (new sexy one from @SNESNESCUBE64 in that stick)
That stick is unique as it an optical control (and an 8nway at that) so needs voltage as well as ground to work, hence the pile of wire.
I imagine there was an intermediary molex connector but you have gotten FAR deeper into building one than I ever did!

Yea, i'm going to scrutinize the schematic more it's just so dang tiny. I was hoping to get a ring out of that 12 pin molex by number and I can go from there no problem. :) Can't wait to see that sexy bulb light!! :D

I went to the art department (moms) to check on my Gorf Bezel order. She assured me that there was only a little left to do and would be done. Excellent customer service. Compare to the original pic in the opening post above. :)
