Anyone have a pic of the underside of an MCR power chassis? I'm deconverting a Tapper that was converted to a Double Play Baseball, and when I went to replace the two big caps, the old caps had burn marks on them and what looks like resistors attached to each one. I'll take a pic tomorrow if no one has a pic to share.

Also, anyone happen to know what size screws to use for the +/- terminals on the new 100k and 55k caps?

.

I've taken apart and restored several of these power bricks and the resistors you see attached to the caps are supposed to be there.

Thanks Chris. I have a power brick pic from your Journey resto printed out as a reference for the top side. :)

The resistors across the caps are to discharge them when the power is turned off. The caps are very large value devices and could otherwise hold a charge for quite a long time possibly causing game booting issues (if switched off then on in a short time frame) and also for safety - so you are 'less likely' to get belted when snooping around in there..…

Vic, Homepin - thanks so much for the pics and the info on the resistors.

Are those cap posts that the wires hook on and the nut goes onto removable? I tried getting one off the old cap and it wouldn't budge.

Yes they are removeable. I had to wd-40 them and let it sit for an hour or so then maybe you can use an allen wrench to get them off. As I remember though, I used a nut driver with an hex bit to get them out. The screws themselves I believe are 1/8 inch diameter. You could just rig something with a new bolt and nut(s) to tighten the connections down. Obviously the screw lugs that came with the new caps aren't long enough to hold all those darn wire connectors.
