Still for 60 bucks and you get it a week early. Wish MN was gettin one but Ill be busy with all the awesome games that are coming out.

its fun, I play cod in 3d all the time, looking down the sights of the gun is crazy. nothing else really gives you that much of an effect

I'm still waiting to see how this 3D thing plays out before I buy another flat screen (I currently have a 40" Panasonic and a 46" Sony). I'd had to buy another 2D TV, and the 3D takes off, but on the inverse I'd hate to buy an expensive 3D TV and never use the 3D...

i use it all the time, blu ray 3d to me is better than the theaters. its a lot more enjoyable in your own home, I have better glasses. I have a theater 3d tv so I can use those movie theater glasses, but I have pairs that look like oakleys and feel great. Also the cool thing with my tv is I have no weak spots, I have a sectional couch and sitting anywhere is great 3d.

How is the viewing angle? It must be fairly narrow compared to a standard TV, right?

My kid and I are hitting the NYC one tonight. Figured I'd spend the $60 on the retail copy anyway, and with this we get copies delivered a week early (no tax, no shipping) and he gets to blast away on it on the big movie screen tonight.

I completely skipped over the multiplayer tournament bit, though... I've had the Subway multiplayer code thing for a couple of weeks and haven't downloaded it yet, so I'll likely pass on the tournament.

post your experience!

Was a good time, given that the price for 'Premium' entry included a copy of the game early (those early copies ship 10/25 via 2-day FedEx). Certainly would not have been worth it at their $25 'General' price.

We got there about 10 minutes to start, go to one table and hand over our tickets and get lanyards, passes, raffle tickets and tournament re-entry raffle tickets; hit the next table to sign up for the tournament (you're 'randomly' assigned to a 5-man team; my son and I were placed on different teams); one last table to register our shipping info for the free copy of the game; then on into the theater.

Theater was set up w/ 20 Uncharted 3 PS3 kiosks up in the pit in front of the big screen, each with a single wired controller and HD LCD display (2D, 36" range). These were all for the multiplayer tournament - there was no single-player hands-on at all, which I was pretty bummed about.

So they showed the trailers we've all seen on YouTube, one of the Naughty Dog guys played through the start of Chapter 19 ('The Settlement', I think it was), the Naughty Dog guys talked about how awesome the game is (it is), then they started the tournament - single-elimination bracket, and with the 20 kiosks they had 2 games going on at once. One of the kiosks was always projected on the big screen in 3D during the tournament using a Sony 4K resolution projector - I assume the PS3 wasn't actually pushing out 4K or 2K and it was just being upscaled by the projector. It looked great in 3D, but those theater 3D Real3D glasses are crap (especially when you're already wearing glasses) so after watching one game on the big screen with them I took them off and just watched different players on the kiosks.

In between rounds, more trailers and dev-yapping. And raffle giveaways - some signed UC3 Penny Arcade posters, one custom UC3 DualShock, a couple of UC3 dolls, console covers, t-shirts, etc. Crap, basically, aside from the DualShock. Towards the end of the night they distributed surveys regarding the event, and supposedly from those that were turned in they will draw one winner for one of the new Sony 3D PlayStation displays that are coming out next month. (They didn't make it clear if it was one drawing from just the people in that showing, or one from the three showings in NYC, or one from all of the showings around the country. I know what my guess is.)

As for the tournament - my son and I actually faced each other in the first round, and the old man prevailed. And prevailed and prevailed - my team made it to the finals... where the wheels came off. The 5 members of the winning team each won copies of the Collectors' Edition of the game (sent to them, they didn't walk out the door with them).

So... it was good, if only for the copy of the game being delivered next week. I certainly wouldn't have paid $25 just to hear some dudes talk about the game and to watch some videos.

So what are you doing with your spare copy? I'd put it on CL for $80 since it's before it's release!

Ugh. I hate dealing w/ the idiots that Craigslist brings out, especially for such a small amount.

I have 2 PS3s, was thinking I'd put one in the kid's room and then we could do multi, but that one's still running 3.15 with a USB jailbreak, so... I dunno. Probably just end up grabbing a new one for his room. He really liked the multiplayer, but he's a Call of Duty fiend, so maybe we can get 2 weeks of UC3 multi in before he's lost to COD again 'til the summer.

Glad I'm not the only one with 2 ps3's. LAN parties are still as fun as they ever were.

*editL For anyone who hasn't preordered, if you do so through new egg, you can get $12 off (with free shipping) if you use the code: EMCYTZT836. It worked for me on Tuesday, but it might be closed by now.
