unbelievable.. create a business plan around arcade rentals and...

So where does one get an operators license? I know laws vary from state to state, but last time I tried looking into it, all I got was a lot of blank stares. What is the "legal" name for the licensing?

Mention vending machines - that will get you in the ballpark of where you need to be.

Even that didn't help. Got the "round robin" thing going - "I don't know...go ask Joe" Joe sends you to John, John sends you to Frank, Frank sends you back to Joe...

I wrote them a note:

You suck. At lease tell people your renting them a crappy converted old cabinet that has a cheap chinese multi board in it that will not be anything like playing the game in the oriiginal cabinet..

I imagine your joysticks are also 8 way.. they suck for classic games.

Not to mention commercial gains from stolen software will land you in trouble.. Namco and Nintendo regularly sniff people out for this..

Good luck..you suck

Why would you give a shit? Are you 12?

Leave it to the tax people to know who owes who money.

There isn't a license any more in Vermont. But you do have to pay sales and use tax on whatever the machine makes.

Yeah, and how do they plan on enforcing/regulating that? Is it like waiters reporting tips or something?

I was talking to Wade earlier this morning about licensing a game on location here, and it might just be $15 per game for a license. Hell for $15, I wouldn't have a problem throwing a few of my lesser liked games on location near my house.

When I was working for the op I worked for, all collections were carefully logged.

As for enforcement, it's like any other income, there are ways around it, and people that would do so.

From the bartender side of the house I can tell you that if you do it long enough the government will get there piece of the pie.
