Hi all,

I recently picked up an untested UN Squadron PCB, and noticed all of the text is missing when the game is running, and there's no sound. I'm guessing the problems are not related. If there is any other info that would help let me know, I'm relatively new with this stuff. Any advice would be appreciated!

you should try to reseat the chips and boards(with the power off). If you don't know what that means, ask. http://www.ehow.com/how_7241551_reseat-bios-chip.html

You don't have to lift the chip out all the way(1/4" should be enough). 1 side is usually enough. The point is to move the legs in the socket to help them make a good contact.

the bottom big board is the same for all the cps2 games. So you can swap the top half onto a something like street fighter II and maybe fix/isolate the problem.

no sound could be your cabinet is missing voltages. check for -5v and +12v.

Thanks, i'll give that a shot. I have a few other boards and the sound works fine on them, not 100% sure how to check for those voltages but I'll do some research.
