I have a ultracade that has the quantum 3D graphite computer in it. When i plug it in it sounds like the computer starts then on the screen i can tell it says something in color but the screen is rolling. Then it goes to like a white blob rolling. So i hooked the computer directly to a computer monitor, the color logo comes up then it goes to black screen that says S_CDE in white. Anyone have any idea what the S_CDE means. It is like the computer is not booting. I have hooked the monitor to another game and it works like it should. I could really use some help on this thing. Thanks

If you can Take a video of it and post a link.
Do you know what monitor is connected? Do you have a Dongle connected to the Parallel port?
If your unsure please post some photos of the PC.

Here is a link of video of what it is doing. I will post some pics also.

The monitor is a WG 7500 which works perfectly hooked to a bear and moose game. I think the thing hooked to the computer is a dongle. The game worked fine then all of a sudden would not come up when plugged in.

Alright. you have a good older Ultracade PC there. Well you know the PC boots as the Screen does say something.

To run the Game on a VGA monitor you need to disconnect the Silver Dongle. (There were 2 of these)
1 was CGA and the other was EGA, as you have a W7500 you "should" have the Med Rez (EGA) dongle installed. But yours is the Low Rez one..... Are you Sure you have a K7500?? Or a 7400??
To run the Game Software in VGA there should be NO dongle.

From the video your not "booting the game" Just the PC So you have hard drive corruption.

When the Ultracade system boots where you have the letters it Should read JoshuaOS kernel Loading. It is not.

How many games did you have installed? Do you have the reinstall media?
You will need the OS install CD and then the game Software, Could be CD or USB installers.

It must be a K7400 because it worked for 5 years like it is flawlessly. I just hooked it up to the tv monitor to see what it said. I do have the system install disc and the game media discs that was on the machine. So if i replace the hard drive and reload the operating system and games. Does it have to be a certain hard drive? Do I have to get a code number or something for the software to work with the new hard drive? Do you know if i will have to go into the bios to reset the boot up sequence? Is there a guide somewhere to installing a new hard drive in ultracade? Thanks for your help so far.

What are your CD's? Photos of them??

What version of the OS do you have?

If you change the HHD the security numbers WILL change so if you have Unlock codes they will not work.

If you use the Original HHD and have the Unlock codes you can reinstall.

Any IDE hard drive will work, I use 10 or 20 Gig ones myself when repairing these.

How many games did you have installed?

I dont have the cd's with me to take pics. It will probably be mon or tues before i am back in town. Would the version of the OS be on the cd? This game and a ms pacman i have already got running belong to church. Its for the kids on free play.I am trying to fix them for them as cheap as i can. I tried putting the operating system install disc in and rebooting computer. It done the exact same thing. Would i need to get into the bias and reset it maybe to boot from cd? If the hard drive is totally gone and can not be used. When you replace the hard drives in them how do you get a security code?

Well, GlobalVR may still provide you a Code. (Depending on what Pack it is) The 86 Game base pack Yes. Maybe a couple others. But any of the "obscure" rare ones, nope.
The Bios should be set to boot CD then HHD0 to load from the CD's. Another thing is that the old CD drives tend to crap out and you may need to temp add another one to load the Disks from. (If the Bios is set to CD first already)

The OS version is on the Disk Yes. it will say something like Joshua OS 3.86 or 3.91.3 ect...

All i know is there is 3 disc. One is operating system install. I guess the other 2 are games. When i am able to take picks of them i will post. Thanks

there is one possible computer solution and that is to run a program called spinrite to repair the boot sectors and the disk of the ultracade. I bought a copy a few years ago to fix my regular computer and it works great recovering data on hard drives though sometimes it can take a few days of continous running to recover the drive

Be mindful that this is not a Windows or Linux OS, nor does it use any "standard" File system. it is its own and propitiatory. The drive appears RAW or empty to every PC, MAC, linux variant ect... So trying to recover lost boot sectors may be a bad idea. As the Software may see the Encryption, Obfuscation as corruption and cause a serious error.

I want to back up by Ultracade SSD and was wondering if there is any software out there that would just copy the drive to another without having to "read" what it is copying.....
I tried R-Drive and you are correct, comes up empty.....
Thanks
Jeff

Sadly, I know of only 1 way and that is to "Make" a new HHD and have it as a spare. You will need to find a USB installer with ALL the games on it and completely reinstall to a new Hard Drive.
You can Try a program called HHDRawCopy tool Available on HHDGuru.com site but I can not say IF it could work or not..... So that is the best I can offer. The thing is that the OS looks for the serial Number of the Hard Drive and if the one it recorded when installed does not match the one you have cloned it will erase the drive games lists. At least this is what happened to me.
