Did you try booting from your system install CD? Or is there a CD already in the drive that it is trying to boot from?

here are the pics of what i have i will look for disc in the cab when i get home from work.
all i did was put my computer monitor on the system and boot it as the arcade monitor looked like no sync but computer monitor was fine said hyperware then went to just 2 letters in far top left and stuck

Agreed. Pop open that CD tray and see if there's a disc inside. If not, contact Chicago Gaming Company http://www.chicago-gaming.com/contact.php. Ultracade is older, but it runs on the Arcade Legends 1 system and they do have the manual schematics for the AL1. http://www.chicago-gaming.com/manuals.php

If you still can't get things working, call them up and ask if there's anything they can help you with for an older Ultracade system. Good luck!

When you hooked it up to the VGA monitor did you remove the dongle?

The dongle on the parallel port tells the computer what resolution to display.

No dongle = VGA.

ultracades are great machines when they work but frustrating when they don't. if you inserted the boot disk then most likely it reset the system although it is very unusual to have any game show up at all because it typically boots to the operator screen. you should press your service switch to enter operator menu and see if there is in fact only one game installed. the other disk you have should be the base 86 game pack. you will need to call global vr and ask for ultracade support. only they can provide the unlock code you will need to install the base game pack. you should inspect the computer itself to make sure the three fans are clean and working...one on the internal power supply, one on the cpu and one in the back that pulls bulk air in. bad fans are the #1 cause in my excperience for ultracade system failures. I noticed from some of the pictures you have a secondary power supply whick is strange....normally the computer provides all the power to coin door lights, exit light all through its connection to the usblinx board. hope you get it figured out.

That looks like a normal install for OS 3.0. For some reason 3.0 comes with Sidearms pre-installed. But you're right, none of the other version OS discs I have seen come with any games at all.

Also check around the floor, computer shelf, or inside walls of your cabinet to make sure the previous owner didn't write the unlock code somewhere. It's a long shot but you never know.

GlobalVR will still give out the activation codes for the 86 game base pack
but I don't know if you need to be a distributor or not.

ok after digging around i have to send computer to betsons (after i creat a accout with them) they send to vr who installs the send back to betsons who then mails it to me. being charged every step of the way. so i am going to sell the ultracade set up if anyone wants it i also have set up disk and 2 game packs. if interested lmk game is in Colton Ca 92324

Really? When I had an issue with one I was working on I emailed globalVR, gave them my MCID and my 86 game base pack serial number and they sent me an unlock code by email. I do know they won't generate unlock codes for game packs other than the base packs - what discs do you have that you were trying to install?
