Ultimarc Wii AV to J-PAC / Monitor / Speaker Adaptor (D Plug)
Today I received the Wii to VGA cable in the mail:
Wii AV to J-PAC / Monitor / Speaker Adaptor (D Plug)
http://www.ultimarc.com/wii.html
Last month when I was looking at using my Wells Gardner D9700 multisync monitor in my game room connected to my Wii, as my cabinet is in storage, I hadn't found any posts on this or KLOV of people's feedback on these connectors. Gave it a shot since it was Ultimarc and all.
Anyway, should be cut-n-dry. Connect the cable from Wii directly to the multisync wells.
With the supplied monitor cable from manufactor (the 4th pin on middle row is molded over and not there) from monitor to the Ultimarc cable, I get a black screen.
Had the same results on two different Wii's.
Tried a standard VGA cable with all the pins intact and I get a reddish screen where the horizontal scrolls.
Now with all this, the Wii's were set to default ntsc 480i resolution. Thinking interlace was the issue, I configured one on a hdtv with a component cable to select 480p and powered down. Same results.
Completely puzzled now, I email Andy and this is his response:
"Where are you located, because this only works on European Wii consoles which support SCART RGB."
I also tried using homebrew emulators connected to my composite tv, selecting PAL 50 or PAL 60 modes, then swapping the connector to the Wells monitor. On the boarders I can see colored graphics scrolling horizontally, with the monitor's error message box in the middle saying no signal. Since the controls are digital I cannot access the menu otherwise to adjust scrolling.
Connecting back to a pc and the image is fine.
However no where on the product description does it mention this is for PAL systems only and not NTSC? Anyone else have any luck with this ultimarc product outside of EU (which doesn't state any restrictions on Andy's site!) ?
