UATA Pacific Coast Games Solo Cabinet Cleanup

Yes flippers was a great place, had a lot of games, it was sold in the 90's to the mogermans who owned grand prix race o rama in dania, the theater in town and country was an AMC, UA had 1 across the turnpike now where I believe it's down shoes UA was also at the falls shopping mall ( now regal) and 1 in Hialeah by 12th Ave which now is an AMC before was Muvico.

Yes if you are talking about Raul in Tamiami that is him, and Yes collectors want alot from him and he just doesn't have the time to put into them as he does still have routes and is traveling to locations, I've known him since 1987 when we both worked for State Amusements/ Eagle distributing off of the palmetto nw 57th ave he left to start his own routes and took over the UA theater route in 89 or 90 when they were selling it off his first was the Hialeah one then all of Florida.
I will take a look for the marquee I believe it's at my parents house, glad to see your fixing up the cabinet, most were destroyed

Raul is a great guy. Think i met him back in 2017 or so. :)

This cabinet and your efforts to restore it are both kick ass. I love the movie theatre-arcade crossover thing.
Thanks! That's a lot coming from the scratch build king himself. (y)

I wouldn't necessarily call this a full restore. She was still capable of standing and running a game but she really could do for a refresh. We're mainly just cleaning her up so we can continue beating on her a bit more.

The arcade to movie theater crossover is what really got me wanting to have a closer look at this cabinet. I had already worked on an Angle19 conversion cabinet made by the same manufacturer almost a year ago to this day. I was pretty familiar with the way they built their cabinets. I'm still a little baffled about some of the design decisions for this cab but overall it has some pretty cool quirks.

Just found out the speaker panel is removable and is only held on by two Wing nuts making it super easy to maintain.

Me making this new discovery:

I worked at a United Artists theater when I was a kid from 88-89, and we had maybe like 8 of these cabinets in the lobby. Most of them had generic marquees with the UA logo, and they were all JAMMA. I'd love to find one of these at some point and a UA marquee!

Couple things happened today.

First we've hit an impasse on whether we should keep the existing color or paint it black. I went out of my way and found a latex paint match for the top corner. It's just okay, a bit darker that I thought it would be. The others want to paint this black as it resembles NARC. I want to keep the blue laminate and if possible, make a reproduction United artist Marquee. They want to to basically throw a Pandora's box or some other multi into it, possibly one that runs NARC.

I cut 2 new control panels. That's when I noticed we may be missing a marquee bracket or something that holds the Marquee down from underneath the control panel. What I wound up doing was cutting a slot underneath the control panel that will hold the Marquee in place from the top.

I planned on rounding off the edge of the control panel and wrapping the entire panel in vinyl. This way if any liquid falls on it it'll roll off the top.

Original Blue all the way. Black? Slap those 'others' upside they heads.

Unfortunately it's not my cabinet so I don't have the final say. It looks pretty ugly as it stands right now.

I'll swing by early tomorrow morning and give it a quick sand and try using a 3 inch fine foam roller.

Are you sure its not a laminate? And even if it wasn't, I'd probably go that route. You can easily find a match for that.

This cabinet is eventually going to make its way into a barcade. Hence why I mentioned this isn't a full-blown restore.

With all of the drunk hipsters and idiots there it's not economically feasible to relaminate the entire cabinet just for one spot on a cabinet that is almost guaranteed to be abused.

Going to rain soon so we got up early to reinforce the cabinet with batons you can clearly see why the back and bottoms were loose. Well over half of the dowels and related joinery are busted.

Quick snapshot before the rain comes. T molding on, corner protectors on the bottom-front.

I wet sanded the area I previously painted. Going to give it another pass tomorrow when the sun comes out.
