I have a U5000 in a Golden Tee. It leaves about 1" on each side, left and right, of black nothingness. I assumed I had a bad chassis. Since I just got a U5000 with a bad tube and working chassis, I swapped chassis. Guess what, still have the 1" of black on both sides. What could cause 2 chassis, one that is KNOWN GOOD, to act this way?

Does this chassis have the extra transistor mounted
on the metal frame ?

If so, have you also swapped that ?

The big white block in line from the flyback to anode cup? If so, chassis 1 did not, chassis 2 did.

this may be a chassis problem.....or you may have this chassis mounted with the wrong yoke and tube. Since you are having the same issue with two different chassis installed on the same tube and yoke assembly, this is probably going to be the problem. I would guess your yoke is the issue.....

Try it in Std. resolution and see if it fills the screen. I had one with the wrong yoke and the width was short in med. res. but worked fine in std. res.

That was the first thing I tried. Same results in both.

1) Have you recapped either of these chassis?

2) Test your chassis with another game besides Golden Tee to rule out a video card issue...

You just repaired one of the chassis.

I've tried the monitor with Golden Tee 2005 and Golden Tee 2K, same result on both games..

Try testing it on something other than Golden Tee.

If I fixed it, then it worked good on my tube. Make sure the yoke is a 9A2988-01. (I think I remembered that right.) If your board has the pincushion board on it, then take it off.

And make sure the tube you're trying it on is an A63 and not A68...

I'm not sure what you mean. I tried both chassis in a Golden Tee 2000. I tried both chassis in a Golden Tee 2005. Both Chassis work fine on my other U5000 monitor tube/yoke. It has to be something in the tube or yoke, because in my racing jam, they work fine.

What I mean is that Golden Tee outputs video differently than other games. If the chassis work perfectly with another game, then your problem is not with the chassis but with the game you connected them to...
