This problem is tough to describe, so bear with me: I have a U5000 that I am having issues with, it has been rebuilt with all new caps, has a good flyback and has all the factory reliability mods installed.
It is running in standard res mode and the picture is really good, except that it has some sort of odd gray shadows/shading that bleeds about a 32nd of an inch from the leftmost edges of bright colored areas to the right, it sort of looks like color bleed, but with gray/black.

it can only be noticed in bright colors, and I cannot adjust it out. I have attempted to take video and photos of the problem, but my attempts to capture it have been unsuccessful.

It's annoying and I'd like to fix it if possible, I have tried several game PCBs on this monitor and it happens on all of them.
I have searched but haven't seen anyone report my issue. Has anybody ever seen this and know what causes it?

can't really help without knowing what it is. so here's some helpful advice that you can apply to any monitor (at least ones that are "newer" with contrast adjustments)

brightness should be adjusted just high enough to where you see visible pixels in a black background, then you adjust it back down until it's absolute black with no pixels. if you turn your brightness up and you DON'T see said pixels, you will have to make an additional adjustment at the lower Screen pot on the flyback to where you do. you may have to bounce back and forth between both adjustments until you get it like I described in the first sentence.

contrast should be adjusted just high enough to where you see "smearing" off the right side of the graphics, then turned down enough until the smearing disappears. if your colors are lacking in intensity, one (or more) of the color guns in the tube can be dirty or weak, and you will need a CRT rejuvenator and ideally someone with expertise in carrying out that process.

last but not least, you adjust the Focus, which is the upper pot on the flyback. you use your own discretion with this one, there's no true right or wrong way to do it. cycle it back and forth to where it's its blurriest, then return it to some point in the center where the picture is sharpest.

if your machine has a screw terminal power supply, AND there's an active earth ground running to the monitor, your symptom you're describing could be "ghosting". it's a type of interference that shows up. it can be corrected by taking a wire, ideally with fork terminals crimped on, and installing it at the earth ground lug on the power supply and jumpering it over to one of the logic grounds. or alternatively, pick a spot in the middle of the earth ground wire running to the monitor and snip it. I used to be a proponent for earth ground removal to monitors, but it's probably not the safest thing you can do, so I've switched to jumpering earth and logic grounds on power supplies instead.

good luck.

have you tried a degauss.

are you running it on the correct yoke.

if you would like it looked at your welcome to send it in.
