Ok, Completed cap kit. Installed all three update kits. When I got this Crusin USA game the screen just had a long thin line across the mid of the screen. Well, the color is great now, I just can not fill the screen all the way to the bottom. B+ is set.

Yes I have. I have even go so far as to try a different remote card for it. No change. It is as if the entire screen is moved up about 2 inches. I can adjust the screen it is just centered to high. I'll upload a pic when I get home tonight.

Does this monitor have a separate transistor mounted on the back right corner of the frame, with a connector to it from the chassis?

I had a similar problem on one of my U5000s. does the vertical position pot adjust at all? mine would get close, and then it would snap back upward again. I had some donor remote boards, so I swapped the pot with a contrast one or something of equal rating, all fixed.

I think when I initially asked though, KenLayton said it could also be caused by a faulty transistor, I just don't remember which one. :(

I did not find a separate transistor mounted on the back right corner of the frame. I decided to swap a known good pot into the v-pos spot and it is now working great. Thanks for all the input. Now it is off to the other Crusin Usa u5000.

yeah, I've had a couple remotes where that particular pot broke. so strange.

glad you got it though, and I wasn't off the mark!

the separate transistor, I haven't seen that on U5000s, but have on K7500s, and that's for horizontal size. U5000 has the jumper pin arrangement depending on whether you're running standard or medium res. I had one monitor where it made a significant difference and another that it didn't matter which res you ran. maybe that's just a case of one having some of the updates installed and the other not. I don't know.

that's all moot. once again, glad you got it working.

Well, got a second U5000. Thin line to start. Capped, all 3 upgrade kits. Doing the samething. Tried a known good remote board. Nothing. Why do I have these U5000?

Cruis'n USA was a medium res game, right?

do you know that big resistor on the right side, it's typically mounted to the heatsink, has 1 wire coming off it that goes to a 2 pin connector and there's a pin there?

make sure the wire isn't connected to the pin. does this help any?

was ti havingpincushion issues too?

i had one once that had wicked pincushion issues and kept popping hots every couple houtrs of run time and one of the fets near the hot was shorted causing the issues on that one..

Glad to hear you got her all fixed up!
