I'm in the process of recapping both monitors in my T-MEK. I just finished the K7191 and am moving on to the U5000. I've read that there are a bunch of "upgrades" that can be done to this chassis and I'm trying to locate where I can get the kits from (if they're available as kits.) I tried the Wells Gardner site that Ken listed (http://www.wellsgardner.com/products/details.asp?iCat=4&iSubCat=22), but apparently Wells doesn't offer them any more. Any idea as to where I might find them?

Also, what are some obvious signs that the upgrades were done? The chassis was working nicely before I removed it to recap it, so I'm unsure if the upgrades were done or not. I'll have to check.

Thanks

The kits may have been installed already. usually if the transistor along the back edge has the heat sink on it, that's an indication. But check the parts list of the upgrade kit against what's currently on it to see.

if it was working, you may not need to do it even if it hasn't been done.

As for ordering the kit, you may need to call WG directly. Or just order the parts from Mouser or Digikey...

one of the 'upgrades' was to lower the voltage to the verticle section from around 30vdc to a cooler 25vdc and a resistor was used to drop it down, so if your verticle is running at the lower 25vdc then it has the 'upgrade' already done.

I just checked and it looks like the first "upgrade" with the clip-on heatsink hasn't been installed. I haven't checked on the other parts, but I just finished installing the cap kit. I know the monitor was working fine before so would I be making a big mistake if I didn't do all of the upgrades?
