What exactly is the purpose of the "power" upgrade? Is it to fix or prevent a problem that MAY occur? Or is it to correct a defective circuit design?
I have one that is showing me a picture in both standard and medium-res mode, but the B+ is too high. Standard B+ is about 130 and medium B+ is about 146 - but it shows a picture. (Yes, I have a new battery in my meter.)
Ring tester shows flyback is okay. Put a light bulb on the output of the PS section and it lights and gives a B+ of 117 in med-res mode (which is about what it should be). Apparently my problem lies elsewhere than the PS section.
I don't trust this monitor to be reliable this close to shutdown (it was shut down prior and reading 152).
I've installed a full cap kit. The Vertical Sweep upgrade had been done before I got it, but not the Power (at least it doesn't have that heat sink on Q703). The plastic guide has been trimmed to keep it from hitting the traces.
I just want to check to see if the Power Upgrade corrects this issue, or whether it fixes dead chassis due to the messed up traces/stress of an open circuit.
If anybody has any other ideas, let's hear them...
