I've got a newly repaired u5000. When installing it, I made a stupid mistake and left the adjustment board laying on the chassis. It shorted something and r303 lit up like a cherry. Any suggestions? I can't spend any more money getting this thing fixed again.

It supply's voltage to the vertical ic.

replace the resistor and check d302 it should check like a normal diode

if cracked or shorted replace it.

test the cathode of d302 and see if your 30v's is back.

Confirm the ic is good, buy ohming the vcc pin on the ic to ground.

should be high ohms. or the ic is shorted and will burn up the parts again.

not to often does r303 burn up for no reason so I would check the cap c305 you replaced

on the 30v line also.

So I fixed it. R303 was bad and a transistor on the heat sink that I shorted the control board on was bad. I see a lot of people checking diodes, in videos on line, in circuit. I guess if it's shorted, you can tell, but I was confused when I could swap meter leads on some of the diodes and it would pass in both directions. One I thought was bad, but out of circuit it passed. Thanks for the input guys.
