I have a U5000 in a Konami Racing Jam machine. The monitor had a bad remote board, so I replaced it with a new one from Chad at AC. Now, when I first turn on the game, there is no vertical hold during the POST, but when the attract screens start, the monitor clears up. What causes this?

Is it running at medium resolution ?
Is that game switchable between standard and medium resolution ?

Just thinking maybe the post is at a different resolution than what the monitor is set to.
(posting at standard - game booting into medium...... something like that)

The U5000 is definitely dual-res. I often see this during boot-up with games that have multi-res monitors, especially the self-syncing ones. The normal boot-up stuff is one resolution rate, but then when the program starts running, it switches to the resolution rate of the game programming.

I wouldn't worry about it...

With the old remote board, everything was fine, other than the width pot was messed up, and you could never get it centered.

With this new remote board, if I adjust the vertical hold during POST, it looks fine....then a few days later, it's back to this again.

It is running med res, and the game is NOT switchable to anything but med. It's not a resolution thing, as the problem does not exist with the old remote board. It has something to do with this new remote board.

Well then, check the pot values on the new remote and make sure they match what is supposed to be there. And check your cable connections...
