I have a u5000 and when I try to adjust the height to fill the bottom inch or so of the screen i seem to be getting fold over. If I reduce the height i get a good picture.
It has a new cap kit. I have checked everything it list out of circuit in the trouble shooting sheet on wgs website and everything checks out ok. R301 was like 1.5 ohms suppose to be 1.2ohms but that should be close enough. I only havent checked is ic u601 im not sure if i can check that with a meter. Its not the control pad tried swapping it already same problem. Interestingly the u5000 spec sheet says r618 should be 82ohms in reality it appears to be a 1.2 ohm resistor? I checked r618 on other chassys and they were all around 1ohm to 1.4 ohms or so. I reflowed a lot of the vertical section didnt help, think im out of ideas anyone else have one lol? Maybe i should try swapping u601?

Did you test the vertical caps? how long since last cap job?
Like a week ago lol and from arcade parts and repair so i wouldn't think i got a bad dap, i double checked that i did not install one backwards, if i did pretty sure there would be a lot more issues lol

Did you have this problem before installing the new caps?

I have another revision of u5000 that i cross checked I am getting a different reading from D302 on the positive in circuit than I am with the problem child at D302, out of circuit it test as a good diode though.. and its a different revision think this one is F and that one is E, so im not sure if that means anything or not becuase it looks like on the F version they relocated one of the resistors by the flyback by jumper to over by the HOT.

Im not 100 percent sure unfortunately, i think the only thing i noticed before is it was really dark but that ended up being a confirmed tired tube, i did accidentally power it on without the control pad hooked up for a minute or so before i realized the machine it was in was powered on i thought it was off and i know that can potentially damage things if its long enough

And with horizontal boards its not nearly as noticeable as the vertical board inwas using to test, if i have it on my area 51 site 4 you might not really notice it as much just fills the screen a little fullet

It was doing some weird shit after the cap kit though the brightness would randomly flicker up for a second then go back down every now and then but then i put it in the police trainer left it running and never did it again, it also had full picture in the police trainer too so thinking pulling the remote board off while it was on is a probable cause, im not sure what to check in that scenario

there's a transistor by the vertical IC that when it fails the picture will be stuck up and can't be moved down. I'm having difficulties finding it in the board layout picture though. :p

I have to look at an actual U5000 and I'll get back to you.

Please do @mecha i read other post from you and seem to use to be/still are the resident u5000 expert. I had the thought earlier to check all the transistors using a spare u5k as a reference but usually they are easy to read negative in the middle .4-6 voltage drop, depending what type should one way or maybe both and i have not checked them because it didnt list them in the troubleshooting sheet but i know even in circuit can still be bad etc

I'm no expert, I just had to fight several of them over the years.

I believe Q602 is what you need to check

I'm going to have to say likely a open solder point / torn trace at the solder pad of one of those caps floating around the vertical ic chip / heatsink area of it.
lets see a nice picture of the solder side of that area.. not saying will see anything from pic but maybe

Will do although i scoured the area and reflowed a lot of it

Mike? I comment on your youtube page all the time and you always reply lmao

So got around to do a little more pissing around with this, double checked everything again double checked joints, caps etc, d603 test good, i get 25vs at the very IC reference point, vert ic test good short s to ground only on pin 5 as it should, continuity test good from the vert ic. All i can think is either vert ic is just bad even though it test good which is possible or maybe u701 idk this thing is driving me up the wall
Lol.
