This U5000 rev E board started "flickering" every (3) to (7) seconds about a month ago. See video link below. Note, the video shows pole position, but this chassis came from operation thunderbolt . .same symptom with both boardsets.
I've recapped, reflowed, and swapped the flyback and have gotten the same results. I did not replace the filter cap in the ps section. B+ voltage is 118.8Vdc.
My question is if the flicker is an issue with vertical deflection, sync, or something else entirely.
TIA.

may need to clean the remote board pots. or make sure you have V. Hold adjusted correctly cause that's what seems to be triggering the flicker. I'm not there though, so obligatory YMMV

thanks, mecha. i cleaned the pots the best i could with deoxit and then i just replaced the 200kohm trimpot for v-hold, but unfortunately the flicker still exists. I do believe you are correct that it is a vertical hold issue and not a deflection issue. i say this from just watching the screen while messing with the v-hold pot and comparing it to when it flickers. . .the behavior is very similar. i'll keep digging. thanks again for the advice.
