I picked-up a Goldent Tee 98 Jamma game with a Wells U5000 monitor that was literally smoking. I swapped out the chassis with a new one (from '97). Everything appears to work well, except it takes a awhile for it to warm up and it is very dim. It is also a little blurry in the center. I adjusted all the pots with no improvement. (factor settings seemed to work best) Anything brighter is just washed out or has lines across it. Any ideas? Would it need new caps even though it has never been used? Could it just be the tube?

Thanks for your help.

Try hooking the monitor up to a different game (making sure to change the resolution plug to match if necessary) to see if the monitor is indeed the problem. I've had many monitors that look dim in the GT's but look perfect in other cabs. I think it has something to do with the GT video card, but I'm not sure...

I have a couple U5000s myself. both are kind of dim. the blurriness in the center that you refer to I was able to fix on both by installing new caps (is yours doing little sparkly ghost artifacts like a cable TV with lots of interference in the signal?).

these monitors haven't got the greatest tubes I guess (Zenith, haw) so they're probably common for rejuvenating. they look worlds apart from my two Polos. still nice quality picture though.

I've had shit luck with the adjustment pots on all my WG monitors I'd say combined about 1/3 of them don't work.

I know there's capkits for these monitors, but does anyone make pot kits for them too?

I have had dim tubes caused by golf logic video cards, edge connector(jamma), monitor neck board, caps, tube as been in the lead over all though, rejuved help some. Tubes are not like they used to be!

Well, I don't have any other games in my possession to try, so I can't do that. I will double check all connectors tonight. There aren't any sparkly ghost artifacts that I can see, just blurriness.

I would be up for trying a rejuvenation, but what is involved with that? Where do I go to get that done and what would it cost?

I may just try a cap kit to rule that out, also.

R811 looks to be fine. I'm not sure what else to check. The board seems to be working well, so I may just chalk this up to an old tube. Do local TV repair shops rejuvenate tubes? Or will they think I'm on something. What is a typical charge for this?

Where are you located? You may find someone here local who has one.

Still, it never helped when I rejuved a dim tube hooked up to a GT. Hooking it up a different game is what helped...

I'm in Appleton, Wisconsin.

The only other thing I can think of: would the orientation of the anode cup result in anything like this? Do I need to regrease it, or is that just for safety?
