Figured I have 4 of these chassis to cap, so I sat down and made a cap map.
More of a speed aid as the WG service documents are pretty good and show the caps reasonably clear.
I just marked the caps that Bob Roberts includes with his kits.

For what it's worth, happy soldering!

HEY TEK...nice job...you should make that a Downloadable PDF for those who need it... NICE JOB ! :)

END OF LINE.

Daniel.

Now make it interactive so that when someone hovers their mouse over the cap location, it pops up the value...

BTW - you missed 3 caps on the neckboard...

I only did the caps that were in the Bob Roberts kit.
If you want to take this a step further, you won't hurt my feelings at all! :D

Just let me know if you need a different file and I'll send it. BTW, how do you make it interactive? That sounds cool.

good stuff. though I don't think I'll be capping any U5000s for awhile. at least I hope not.

I should engineer a Polo cap map like this, last one I made I drew it.

this was just done in Excel, imported a screenshot and added the circles and
Labels.

And seriously, if anyone wants the excel file, PDF, or JPEG to take it further, just ask. I did this for myself to install some Bob Roberts kits in my 4 monitors a little faster. The U5000 doesn't seem to have the level of user made docs as do other models.

I was pretty sure Bob included those 3 caps. Even if he doesn't, you should add them to your map...

Which three caps are you referring to? I am about to order a recap kit from bob and if they are not included I need to order them I guess. Also I didn't see the U5000 listed on your website for cap reference either. So any help would be appreciated! Also are there any other caps or items that should be commonly replaced on that model so I can order all at once? Thanks!

All three are 10uf 25v
Look on the neckboard, they are lined up in a row. They are not in Bob Roberts kits either.

Make sure R760 is 100ohm 1/2w Flame proof. That was a value change in the upgrade kits, but is also listed as such in the service manual.

You might look at L103 too, all of mine where burnt to a crisp. I found a replacement that fits and is a very close value, but 2x the current rating. Cost was like $2.

Working on my chassis's now, hopefully get to see some working this week. And yes, it's been a back burner project for 6 months now.

I need to get back to the U5000 I was working on. I know there were a lot of discrepancies between the cap kit list, the WG manual and what was on the chassis.

I have it done, but I've been so busy I haven't much time to update my site with some other lists that I have ready. Here's the info for now:
