I have a U5000 chassis that has had a very bad time
1000027422.jpg
aside from recapping it had a dead or faulty...

Q704 HOT
Q101 MOSFET
U101 PWM IC
R104
R106
R117
R107
R100
R105
And as mentioned an missing L103 that someone replaced with a piece of stranded wire and a ferrite bead.

After replacing everything (except L103, I just learned it was supposed to have a coil there) and testing every diode in the power supply section and checking for shorted Poly caps, I only get -40v and +40v on the rectified side of D101, D102, D103 & D104 all the way to the primary and auxiliary of the T101 transformer and get nothing on the secondary side. At W159 (removed voltage out end for power supply test) I also got 40v for a few seconds then it drops to 5v when (I assume) Q101 got taken out. Surely L103 being missing wouldn't cause this, I assume it at least worked for some time after putting the wire in there since ive heard of others finding U5000s like this. I also should mention I swapped T101 & Q101 from a U2000 and got no change... any ideas?

Edit: I think the replacement Q101 might have shorted to the frame, I found a small hole in the thermal insulator. The spare i got from the U2000 has a voltage drop of d-s .499 & d-g 1.100 so it may still be good.
