U5000 Adjusting H-hold and Width puts chassis into HV shutdown.

Well that was easier than expected!

Fortunately, both ends of the broken wire were on the outside part of the yoke and exposed. Yoke now reads 1.1ohm horizontal and 7.5 ohm vertical.

It still goes into HV shutdown if I adjust the Width pot any wider than it is in the above image or if i mess with the H-Hold pot. I might need to check and see if the VR700 is set low, does anyone know what voltage its supposed to be? Otherwise it's possible something wrong in the horizontal circuitry. I know C723 film cap failed when I tested it with an LCR meter but it wasn't out by a whole lot, its a 6000pf cap and it reads around 5500pf so around 8.3% off from 6000pf, manual says it uses a 2% so it may be worth changing regardless, either way I have some on order. Also could be the old HOT I put in it, as mentioned somewhere above I read somewhere it was recommended to upgrade to a stouter HOT if replacing the flyback, I may look into that. I will also have to track down a set of convergence rings...

Regardless I'm celebrating a small victory for the moment, O'Doyal rules!!!1000027837.jpg

Shutdown was high! It was at .50v, I now have full width control and can adjust the H Hold pot!
