Worked great for awhile and the monitor started to loose horizontal adjustments. I had a bad frame transistor and bought one from chad. Worked great again for weeks now I had bad pincushion that wont adjust. I tried the pin amp and trap. It adjusts only slightly but stays like this. Where should I start to look next?

No did not recap. swapped with 2 other known working chassis and issue stayed the same. i do know that the one is in need of recapping though

Let me know too

This is a common problem on u3000 yet no one will tell us how to fix it? I have looked all over the internet and can not find a flow sheet or really much of anything on how to fix it. there is a u3000 trouble shooting guide but it only suggest to replace vr703, l701 and q703. I have tried 2 out of the 3 with no change the l701 is some funky width coil or something of that nature I can't find any replacement for.

I will tell you how to fix it :p I just figured it out, same symptoms horizontal size doesn't work and pincushion adjustments don't work. The problem is the 2sd1193 transistor connected to the frame of the monitor under the power supply, it's dead! You need a new one and your done! All adjustment pots work again :)

That is cool! Now people have something to go by because I did a search on Google and a lot of people have this problem and no one really had any idea what it was. I did a cap kit on two of these monitors yesterday and hooked them both up to the same tube and both of the chassis where doing this, I was starting to think that the caps where messing it up! One chassis looks really good and the other one is a little dim, I am thinking it needs a new flyback because it was little weird when adjusting. I hope that brightens up the picture!
