I have a P717 U2000 WG 35K2193. The chassis is done, needs to be repaired. I know that a K7400 will work in these but wasn't sure if that was a good idea and what all you had to do in order to make that swap, if anything. I can recap this U2000 but I always have a lot of problems with these in general so thought if it would take something else Id try that.

U5000/U2000/K7400 all share the same yoke.

what problems do you have with the U2000? unless the large power caps are visibly blown open replacing the caps probably won't fix it.

The adjustment coil is snapped off the P717. I thought I would recap it at the same time if I were going to do it. I have about 50 boards I have already repaired and just thought if I could put a 538 in there I would. I have a ton of those. A little lazy I suppose but thought I would ask anyway. :)

Just put a p763 in there works like a charm. I'll get this other board recapped when I have time here. Here is the 717

the coil is intact and besides the plastic being broken there's nothing wrong with it. just glue it back together. you shouldn't be adjusting it anyway, the width adjustment is electronically controlled.
