Hi All..

I recently upgraded my TZ to ROM 9.4H. After I did that, I shut down the machine and have not touched it for a few months...

The Game played perfectly before.

What is happening is..when I start the game...ball pops up....but when I press both flippers at the same, the game resets itself.....

Is this a setting that I can fix???

Tnx!!

While that's a great little product, it does not fix the problem. Other boards running off the +5v will start to fail if the +5v feed continues losing power, and then you'll have all sorts of issues.

While I like the guy, met and chatted with him several times, I believe in fixing the actual problem, not covering it up.

totally agree with this

I had a Road Show where I had done *everything* listed to cure the reset problem, but it didn't help. Finally, I tried the kahr WPC reset cure board. It fixed the machine and it has been perfect.

before you start ripping apart the machine and ordering stuff maybe move the game somewhere else in the house and test it by itself with nothing else plugged in or running near it.

Also test you wall voltage to make sure its correct and consistent.

That machine is very power sensitive.

I had one that would freak out if you turned on anything else on the same circuit but was fine if it was the only thing running.

While I am a big proponent of treating the problem, not the symptom, after one has tried everything, what exactly do you propose to try next?

Point being, eventually you get to the point where the system is sound, correct, technically perfect and it still doesn't work, and you'd rather just have a working game than play a game of Sherlock Holmes.

Then unload some silly MODs, if there are any (or give them a separate power supply), check incoming voltage, transformer output voltage, etc. Check the reset circuit on the MPU board, check resistor value, caps, etc.

Everything still check out okay? Get another power driver board.

Again, because if the little fix-it board fixes it, your +5v is still low. I've seen a lot of people post on Pinside and RGP about issues with sound and/or display, and don't mention that they have one of these installed, and the low +5v is causing those boards to start messing up. :)

While I understand your point, I just don't agree with it. Fix the issue, and it will prevent issues in the future. :)

But that's no fun. Likely still issues if you can't add anything else to the circuit. (or else the circuit isn't stable)

I used to find my circuit maximum of machines but adding them until I popped the breaker, then subtract one. :)

yah thats true but if you have bad incoming power to begin with or it goes up and down like mine did in my old house you are going to have issues no matter what you replace or fix on that machine.

Years ago, I pulled out all my Repair logs pertaining to resets on WPC and WPC95 games and separated them into piles by cause. When i was done I happened to have 10 piles and I listed them from largest to smallest here.

This is great. I've got this showing up again after years of trouble free operating and was dreading getting back into it.
