The left coin chute on my Asteroids Deluxe shows 9,413 and the right chute shows 7,131. That's 16,544 quarters, which is $4,136.

How does that compare to earnings from other 1980's games before they were taken off route?

Depends on the game, the location, etc. I have (and had) games that had lower counts than that (my SkyDiver is just over 2,000), and some that had 60-80,000 on the counter, some even more.

that sure doesn't seem like enough, some of the purchase receipts I have found over the years have games like Asteroids Deluxe at $2295 and such new. I would have thought ops wanted to make more than $1100 for the investment. Placement maybe, or they started to make so much with Pac Man it didn't matter...

Galaga cabaret: 133,481 = $33,370.25
Asteroids Deluxe cabaret: 17,623 + 14,711 = $8,083.5
Tempest UR: 839 1-player games + 173 2-player = $296.25

Tempest's data is stored on the board, I assume it got wiped at some point.

My Super Chase HQ cab is from 1991(?) and has something insane like 200 000 plays on it. I have no idea the game was so popular back in the days!

I have had a lot of machines with 100,000 plus plays on the meter as well. Your Asteroids Deluxe there has a relatively low play number for such a popular game.

There certainly is a lot of variety in the ranges. It does seem that my AD is "low", generally speaking.

80,000 or 200,000? Wow!

My "new" TRON has only 6120, which didnt even pay for itself, condition of the cab and art reflects this....

I have noticed that driving games tend to have the most plays on the meter, that and cabinets that have been through 5 or 6 conversions.

Couple more.

Pac-Man mini: 29,374 = $7,343.50
Klax: 5,294 = $1,323.50

Klax also stores them in memory, so it could have been wiped. It is very clean, so it might have gotten pulled off route after not earning and been home use for 18 years.

Where is the coin counter on games my pacman (now 60 in 1) I have never seen the coin counter in it.The guy I got it from said that it was on location from 1980 (Bally is only a few miles from the I think). And my trivia whiz that was a qix trimline.where is the counter for the two games?

should be right inside the door on pac...thats where mine was...

I once came across a hand-written note in a Rip Off that had daily earnings on it. Wish I could have kept it (I was in another person's facility but helping clean it out a bit) but I remember it was making somewhere around $120 a day during it's heyday. I'd say not bad for a game that isn't a well-known classic.

It only shows that low because those coin counters "roll" at a million. :D

My Battlezone, which had only been out on route for about 1.5 years BITD had over 60,000 plays on the counters ($15,000). I put it on free play and never tripped the coin switches, so those were legit numbers.

just took a look at my op wolf
154,813 - 38,703.25 And maybe $10 from me (not counting free play), that's not bad I don't think.
