Just wanted to share this to show that these things happen all the time. It's really not a big deal to me but I would bet money that other people here would be pissed... ;)

I replied to an ad for a Street Fighter II pinball that had no picture and listed the price as $600 or negotiable. I threw an offer of $500 and told the guy I could pick it up Saturday morning at 9am.

He responded back that evening and said "Great, consider it yours but I won't be around until Monday morning. If that doesn't work, Sunday the 12th would work."

I replied "Sounds good, Monday, Tuesday, Friday or the 12th would work for me. Do you want a PayPal deposit to hold it just so you know I'll come for it?"

Here's where it starts to fall apart... :)

Guy doesn't respond for hours and hours and then it's a cryptic response babbling about how far away I am... asking me if I have a way to transport it... and then finishing with "and I'm getting lots of questions about this..."

I type back and explain where I'm located(1-1/2 hours away) and that I'll be bringing a truck... and that I'd go up to $550 if he wants... (remember, he already accepted my $500 offer in the first email...)

So 12 hours later now he writes back... "Sold".

For me... another in the long line of "Oh well" deals. I wasn't sure I wanted the game to begin with so $500 made it worth it for me to try. $550 was only offered because my kids both said they thought the game looked and sounded cool(from Youtube videos).

No money changed hands... so no problem. Honestly, in my heart of hearts I'm hoping he has the reverse happen to him down the road so he knows what it feels like but I could give a rats ass really. :dunno:

Not sure why I typed all this... but I gotta run... only 3 weeks until Thanksgiving and I need to get ~50,000 more Christmas lights up by then.

I'm surprised someone paid $600. He did you a favor. SF2 pinball is not worth $550 plus a 3 hour drive total. I had one. The theme is the only cool thing about it. Your kids would have been bored to tears within a week.

Here's an answer I got from CL today:

Hey,

I am VERY sorry.... the other person actually emailed me back, turns out her first reply was in my junk box and I missed it. I feel like an idiot...

You know, if you're interested, Ive been earning very good money from this work from home program and theyve just opened up 3 more positions in our area. Basically you earn money by posting links on the internet, it's very easy and I usually just do it while watching TV.

Heres the link if you want to check it out:

Ive earned about $800 every week since I've been doing it… not enough to stop working yet but I finally have some spare money in my checking account lol. My sister is going to sign up later and these positions usually go fast, so I'd really appreciate it if you didn't give the link to anyone else.

Thanks a lot and again, very sorry about the whole mix up…

-It's craigslist. It's a pinball. You have to go over there the day you see the ad, give the guy cash, and pick it up. Did you really expect it to sit around until the weekend?

-SFII pin has been going up in value ever since SFIV dropped. One sold here for $900 in a few hours and wasn't in that great shape.

I got that one last week. Of course only after stringing me along for a day or two.

Hmmm... I'm going to send a response to his "sold" message with the assumption it's still mine. :) Great idea about sending an $800 offer from another email address too.

Yes... I'm "that way" so it could be fun. :) Maybe I'll email from a third address and offer $850... then a fourth and offer $1000... thanks for the ideas guys. :beerchug:

Like I said, this wasn't a big deal at all... I just felt like writing it out for some odd reason(maybe because I've been reading cwales awesome "stupid customers" thread?).

At any rate, all is right with the world.

I'm getting sick of everyone complaining about everything heheh It's fun to complain about dumb people. :)

Let me know if you want me to send offers form a few e-mail addresses I can send a really good story about a long lost brother who bought me one for my birthday but died in a car accident on his way to bring it to me and it was totaled... money is no object, I'll pay anything he's asking.. and see what he says.

Edit: these customers have made me insane, I think. :(

That Sucks, been there a few times. If its something I really want, I usually dont wait. I go that day, or the next day. Once you tell them your on the road your usually safe.

That would only work on a person who has a conscience.

Usually, but not always. He couldn't go pick it up right away anyway because the seller told him he would only be available the upcoming Monday morning.

True It sucks I dont know why people cant keep there word on CL. I got a few games from a guy last month. They were priced good. He was out of town for 3 days. In that time period 3 local guys tried to work him out of our deal. He held them for me. I gave him a extra $75 because he kept his word, didnt tell him just gave it to him..

I have had a few sellers who called me when I was on my way asking for more money, because someone called or emailed while I was driving.. I hate that shit too. Guy says deal, should be deal..
