i have been reading posts but couldn't find any of the following answers dealing with my Area 51 setup:

what are the differences in I and II? just casing(cosmetic)?

are there different plugs also? i have 2 guns that look the same but one has a a 6 pin molex and the other a 4 pin IDC(?), but my area 51 has the molex connectors for the monitor so the 4 pin is incorrect gun maybe???

also, the molex connector gun that i can plug in, will only work in the center of the screen areas?

thanks for you help!

also, i guess i should note that it seems to me that the monitor needs a capkit cause missing some blue i believe, would this cause this gun problem?

i cleaned the monitor, and tested in the dark as posts say. i tested with various brightness setting, still on changes. plugged that gun into both molex(player 1 and then player 2), same result.

The differences between type 1 and type 2 are major! Different circuit boards, different housings, different hoses.

Oh hell yes. Monitor problems that are barely noticeable for stick-and-button games can cause major pickup issues for gun games.

good to know....i am awaiting on Bob Roberts flyback and capkit as we speak! (think the fly is suspect of barely going in/out of focus)

The whole "Type I" "Type II" thing on Happ guns can be confusing, if you're trying to mix and match parts between different gun assemblies. There are Type I and II hoses, PCBs, and plastic gun housings. The hose and gun housing type must match: The fitting on the hose is different, as well as the receptical molded into the gun housing. The PCBs are pretty much the same, except the "Type II" PCB has a plastic support around the phototransistor. A Type I PCB should fit in either type of gun housing, but a Type II PCB probably won't fit into a Type I housing, as there may not be room for the support thingy.

However, if you're talking about entire assemblies (not mixing and matching parts), Type I and Type II are totally interchangable. In fact, I have a Type I on the left and a Type II installed on the right of my Lethal Enforcers.

AFAIK, Happ guns are 4-pin. Not sure about the 6-pin connector. Perhaps it's for a re-coil gun? Or perhaps it's not Happ? Mine are both 4-pin... Perhaps someone else can explain the 6-pin connector.

For guns to work well, white should be WHITE. Not tinted. A missing or under/over-driven color will cause problems.

Man! thanks for that last bit of info cause going thru the monitor tests and colors, my white is almost mustard/tan/yellow, not white!! blue and black look blue, and violet is still red. i am missing something here but not sure what(blue?).

the red is red and the green is green....i wonder if something is wrong with my blue drive or cutoff or if i just need a capkit???
