Two questions on Centipede trackball

I weighed an original ball, current pool ball, and replace Happ ball. The Happ ball is 25% lighter. No sure why they don't use a standard cue ball?

I ordered a cue ball. I'm trying it - even if it is my bench controller..

dear world,

do replacement rollers exist for Missile Command cabaret's unique trackball? also look at the yellowness of that ball. lol

'm 95% sure the original ball is just a cue ball.. exact size and weight.. plus.. in 1983, why reinvent the ball?
If you want it to be more original and white(er).. Spend $8 and buy a cue ball .. Centipede is my fav.. the wrong weight ball matters..
hmm... I'm going to buy a cue ball for my bench controller.. I want to try it now..

My replacement trackball was too light and too bright white. I ordered this cue ball off of Amazon. It's the right weight and the perfect shade of off-white.

Dang, look at the metal. That's supposed to be aluminum, right?

Happ balls may be lighter because they could have just shopped for a cheaper source of smooth plastic balls. Cue ball probably costs a little more.

Probably a great question for the Missile Command expert now that his monitor is fixed.
yeah those have adjustable height and it's dialed all the way in to get the rollers to touch the ball. I find it hard to believe there's no new rollers for those even if the cabarets are less common.

It's anodized.

I thought replacement rollers were available. Relevant thread:

Is it? I figured it was cigarette tar. Mine isn't anodized, plus anodization costs extra money on a part not normally seen or touched. But then some of the nuts aren't yellowed, so… huh. I'm surprised if they really anodized those.

Centipede Trackball info for the thread:

Here is a brand new Cue Ball compared to an original Centipede ball.. The original is a little yellower with age

The cue ball vs. white ball with the Happ replacement assembly..

And while I was swapping the Cue ball into my bench controller...

IMG_7447.JPG

Cue ball 162.7 Grams

Plastic ball 121.3 grams

My original Centipede ball was ~158 grams. Centipede does not play correctly with the plastic ball, the rest of the replacement Happ trackball is just like the originals from 1983 (+ ground wires). Just buy a Cue ball and it will be 100% if needed.

Thanks for a confirmation of the weight difference. That will definitely matter to some serious players or those very serious about originality.
