So I've had a Ms. Pacman stand up unit for about a year now and I have noticed two problems one of which just started today and would like some help with.

1st problem: Sometimes, if I turn it on and hit the credit button and start a one player game, I get stuck on the credit screen but can hear the game running in the background. When a ghost kills me, I can finally see the maze and play the game but then the ghosts are able to run through the walls. interesting thing is, if I choose the two player game, the game plays fine.

2nd issue: Today when I started it up in 1 player mode, it played fine, but randomly the sound would go down to a very low volume but if I died, it would cut right back to normal audible level.

Any ideas?

checks

Have you read the service manual? It has a lot of diagnostic stuff in it about symtoms and what chips could be bad.

Have you checked the power supply voltages?
Reseated all the socketed chips?
Recapped the PCB?

Talk to Riptor... he's the pac guy.

First off, if you have the RFI filter board pull it off and toss it in the trash. If you do not have the RFI filter board, pack up your board and send it to Riptor for repair.

What do you see on the screen in test mode?

Not me, but I do believe that Riptor or Modessett may do Ms Pac power supplies.
