1) Where can I get a replacement blue gel screen overlay, or what should I use? I already tried this tinted gift wrap/plastic stuff, but it is so thin that it has stretch marks/ripples no matter what. With a small amount of room light glare, the stretch marks are annoyingly noticeable, and since the body is cardboard, its impossible to avoid.

2) Once I get going on a heavy game, some asteroids "unzip" at the screen edges. Literally, its like the outer string of the shape broke and started to straighten out. Its just for a moment. Maybe a cap kit is finally needed?

IIRC, someone makes a replacement overlay. I can't remember who.

I'd like a solution to #2, also. Mine does this even after a cap kit and new HV diode.

Put it in test mode and see what the test screen looks like. Its possible you may just need to adjust the linearity pots, OR your picture is too big or positioned off the edge of the tube.

I don't think drawing off the edge of the tube would cause that particular problem just by itself. But I agree drawing the picture too big...beyond the limits of what the power supplies can support certainly could. Let us know what the crosshatch looks like.
