Have any of you guys tried the demo for the twisted remake on ps3? I expected it to be hard but holy hell the a.i. is ridiculous. They dog pile you and take you out before you have a chance to do any real damage. The controls are floaty as well and I'm not too crazy about the layout and the primary and secondary weapons deal doesn't always work well. Gone is the tight cornering and spinning 360's. Whenever someone is behind you hitting you with everything they have you're screwed. I have played through all of the twisted metal games (yes even 3 and 4) and this is just too damn hard to play and not fun at all in its current state.
The online seems to be down or broken as well. I tried to get online five times before I gave up.
I hope these things are fixed in the retail version. For now I canceled my amazon preorder. I'm eagerly waiting for some e reviews of the full game before I throw down my cash. What a bummer I have been looking forward to this game for months.

I'm just going to assume you're a little kid or "special" and not say anything retaliatory. Go have a juice box and a nice day :)

No need to get defensive, he works at Amazon, it's a joke.

Yup, was just trying to be funny.

"Why'd he have to cancel his order? It's not my fault he didn't like the demo."
-Sad Amazon

Twisted Metal 2 World Tour FTW!!!!!!!!

I totally agree with this... I downloaded TM2 on the PSN the day it came out, after my PS1 scratched up my original disc and I've been wanting to play it for years. It is the best of the series, period.

3 and 4 just didn't have the same feel at all. Black was just "okay" and Head On... well it was a nice try.

I haven't tried the demo for this new game yet, but really in my mind the series stopped at 2 World Tour.

I'll give this one a shot though, but don't have high hopes -- especially after reading your first impressions.

Sorry humor can be hard to read oline. Plus I felt like I had the crap kicked out of me after I spent 45 minutes on the demo and didnt like it.

I agree with you 2 was just one of those great games were everthing comes togather perfectly and you want to play every so often over the years. I got lucky and stumbled across a great retro games store and was able to grab twisted metal 1,2 and 3 for $ 12.00 total. The best part was they have a really expencive resurfacing machine that makes them look like new and they do it to all there games they sell for free.

If they had kept the classic controls and phisics it would have been much better. But using the stick for driving along with the direction pad for one hit freezes, sheilds and whatknot just feels cheap. David jaffe says there will be a day one patch but i'm not sure if it will fix these issues or what.

I've only played Twisted Metal:Black and couldn't really get into it. I remember playing Vigilante 8 and quite enjoying that though. What's the best TM title to start with?

I was reading through David jaffe's(twisted metal creator) twitter feed and he said "final game is NOWHERE near as hard as in demo." And he also mentiond that the online has two porblems one of which is already fixed. I've been working with the new controls and there diffrent but they work. I guess I will be havin' a hell of a time on the 14th. Twisted metal, pizza and lotz of pepsi. Good times, hell to the ya!

If I do recall, the first two TM's were produced by a company called SingleTrac. TM 3/4 were done by 989 Studio which felt the need to alter everything. TM Black was basically the creation of a lot of former SingleTrac employees at a new company which explains why it felt more like the first two. I was basically unbeatable with Shadow. He by far had the best special weapon, the shadow bomb.

You recall correctly. The moment I booted-up TM3 for the first time and saw the 989 logo, I knew everything would be going downhill from there.

Shadow hmm? His special was odd to use if the target was on a higher or lower terrain because the shadow itself would be hard to keep track of.

Personally my main was Roadkill -- I could destroy an enemy with 2 freezes and two boomerang specials.. 100% damage = death.

Though I pick Sweet Tooth occasionally just because shooting someone with bouncing exploding homing ice-cream cones just brings a smile to my face.

I also have a tendancy to do a neutral full-stop 360 degree victory dance on my opponents screen is VS Battle with Sweet Tooth, but that's another story.

989 ruined a lot of good franchises back in the day. Coolboarders and JetMoto also come to mind.

Also, since there seems to be some good TM2 discussion going on here, and for those who still have it on their PS3, I feel I should add this fun little note:

There is a secret/bug with Sweet Tooth, where if you beat Dark Tooth using Sweet Tooth and then start a new game (can be single or VS), from that point onwards, Sweet Tooth will have Dark Tooth's special cones... The ones that move in spirals instead of bouncing.

They seem to home-in better and do slightly more damage.

This only lasts until the game is turned off... but back in the day, I would just tell my friends "give me 5 minutes" and I would use the code to get to Dark Tooth and beat him so that I would have my spiral cones for our VS battles.

Just thought I'd share the knowledge. :)

The shadow bomb was all timing and if I do remember correctly, you can detonate it under someone, even if they were up high and they took damage. If you were playing against each other, You can always lead the guy with it since it went through (over buildings) and watch in their screen as it got close to detonate it. You could also fire it backwards like any other weapon and detonate it. Even non direct hits cause the opponent to be shot into the air which proved to be deadly on stages such as New York and Antarctica where you could fall of the side. Many times I would just throw up my shield and detonate it right next to the guy. I'm telling you, in the right hands he was very unfair to play with.
