Twin Galaxies 1st series trading cards - I made the cut...post a pic if you did too!

Well in the weird world of the arcade machines/gaming I've been given the honor of having my face plastered onto a trading card. I donated a Space Invaders Deluxe to the International Video Game Hall of Fame last year to go into the musuem that they are planning on building sometime hopefully within our lifetime. I bought the machine for $20 and I knew it wasn't a "keeper" so I contacted Walter Day regarding to ask if he would be interested in having it for the future museum. He was extremely thankful, sent me a bunch of signed posters, included my face and name in a poster for last year's Big Bang event in Ottumwa, Iowa (I got to sign autographs with Billy Mitchell) and has kept in touch with me since then. He emailed me last week to inform me I would be included in the trading card set and honored at the event next week in Ottumwa, Iowa...unfornuately I don't have the funds to attend...it would be fun!

I know some people have their issues with Twin Galaxies but I appreciate their efforts to keep classic gaming alive and Walter Day is a class act. I think a couple of other KLOVers donated machines or have high scores (he's looking at you Richie Knucklez) so if you're on a trading card post a pic on this thread!

I should have a bunch of the actual trading card in a few weeks. Autographed cards will be $1000.00 shipped :)

ahaha! Almost looks like it says Space Invaders "Dix" Donor. How many dicks did you have to donate to get a card?

I kid.

Very cool Joe. Congrats on your new found fame.

Nice Joe !!!
haha, here is mine :)

I want to see Alan's pic as well as John McCain's pic in the first series...

VERY.
Sorry folks.
It is.

Next thing you know they'll be selling signed repro marquees and other trinkets.
And people will buy them and brag.

Wow, what a response, i've got a card but i sure as shit ain't showing it here. Kind of feel stupid that i had Walter rewrite the text on the back of my card to include KLOV now.

ha ha, watch out your lunch money will be stolen soon as you are slammed against a locker. we never escape the school years! ;)

Walt is a big hearted guy. I'm not completely understanding the whole trading card thing. i'm on one of those cards for being an original employee and work i did on the That's Incredible competition.....but I think I'll pass on posting pictures.... just look up "ugly skeezer" on google to get a cameo.....

Oh don't feel bad that they made a card for you, that's kinda neat. They just seem like a silly thing to bother with. They should have done it in the 80s, would have been cool then. Now it just looks like a gallery of child molesters :)

Um...

...I'll just say that, somewhere between the idea of them and actually making them, a line was crossed. It's not a good/evil line, but it's a line nonetheless. ;)

I got card # 69 too! Woo Hoo!! Walter was concerned about that number and called to make sure i wouldn't be offended by getting that number.

Really to understand why these are being made you have to know Walter. He is a one of a kind guy. I have never met anyone quite like him. The cards obviously aren't for the general public. They were just a fun thing to do, and Walter's way of saying thanks to a lot of people. I haven't personally known Walter all that long, but in the short time i have, i have come to know that i will never meet a guy as kind and generous as he. Personally, i don't feel as though i've done anything worthy of having a card (i keep saying i, but my wife is on the card as well) but Walter tries to find the good and the special in everyone. I'm not complaining, but i am very honored by the card and i'm sure many others feel the same of Walter's generosity.

True, but back in the 80's they still would have looked like a bunch of child molesters. We are talkin geeks here.

ha ha, that reminds me. i saw in some interview where they were talking about rock star status in the 80s. and girls thronging toward great players.

ummmmmm, not. If we were that cool we'd have been driving our metallic blue camaro to hang out with the popular hottie chicks, not riding a moped to play video games at the arcade....

You've got nothing on my Billy Mitchell rookie card.

In a few years I'll be able to cash that in and retire.

Walter called me one time about 10 years ago to tell me he was going to stand by his judges decision to screw me over for $1000. I still won about $1200 in the Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2 competiton they had but they fucked me over for another $1000. Somewhere between the time they called me to tell me I won the big $1k prize and the time they announced the winner they decided I cheated but were unable to say how or why they think I cheated. Just imagine being told you won some decent change for you hard work and then when they post the winners you're not even on the list.

Fucked over is what I called it.

Check this out about the cards. You can pay them to make some of you if you like.

Read about it here or just check out the clip from the post.
