I am having a problem with the lighting on my Twilight Zone under the "2 million" sign near the flippers. Occasionally it lights up, but most often it is not lit. I have put sockets and bulbs in that spot that I know work in other lighting areas, but then the bulb does not usually light there, only occasionally it will just come on and then stop again.

Is this possibly a problem with the electrical connection at that site? Any thoughts on how to diagnose and fix it? Thank you for the help. I am new at this and appreciate all of your guidance.

Your Twighlight Zone is obviously broken...I will gladly dispose of it for with minimal cost to you :)

Never worked on any new tables myself, is there light test modes you can put it in? I'm assuming this is a switched light?

Really circuits are very basic. Power comes from a source, goes to bulb, then to a common ground.

Check the boards for voltage at the output connector for your bulb, if it's there, work your way towards the bulb, check at the wire soldered to the socket for voltage. If there's no voltage there work backwards, if there is voltage, you know it's gonna be a socket issue (which it shouldn't be if you've already replaced the socket).

If there's no voltage at the connector, is there a transistor powering that bulb? Do a transistor check, and replace if need be.

This is a common problem on the 555 lamp boards. Just go into the single lamp test and select the lamp that's out. Try wiggling or reseating the connector to the board and see if you can make it light. I find this fixes the problem 95% of the time, but sometimes there's a bad trace on the board or a break somewhere else along the chain.
