When the game is powered on the screen cycles though various colors, no details just solid pastel colors. The game can be heard playing after the start button is pushed, but the same colors continues. Voltages measured on the power supply board are: -5.229 12.04, and 5.368. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

pictures

Upload some detailed pictures of the PCB.

Is this is a dedicated cabinet or a JAMMA?
Have the caps every been replaced?
Have all the socketed chips been cleaned and re-seated?
Start with the basics and provide more details please.

I am having the same problems.

This is a dedicated game.
Checked all the socketed chips. Verified all roms with GQ-4X against rom files from MAME.
Checked edge connector.
Adjusted the voltage to 5.1
Metered all fuses.

I have a spare board set that I can swap parts if needed.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!!!

It was working partially before I pulled two rom chips and replaced them because they would not verify and I could not write to them after I erased them. I bought two new 2732's, burned the correct rom to the chip, verified, and now this is what I have on the screen. It will not coin up and I have no sound. It was working before, but the video was broken up and I could walk through walls from one screen to the next.

Dude, is that a RARE ArkaTron to the left of that Tut? Man, I've been looking for one of those for YEARS. LOL.

Seriously, though, you did verify that you're using the correct version of the romset? Do any of the other roms on your board verify correctly?

FWIW, my Tut board set also just displays a solid color. I haven't don't much other trouble shooting yet.

I would start by verifying that all the ROMs are good and are of the same data set.

Second, I would recap the bottom board.

I switched boards and rom chips, metered the edge connector for the correct voltages. Plugged in the board and got a partially working game but with video problems. Played for about 2 min and then the game reset and the screen when to black with random artifacts.

This was how the game was working before I tried to reburn the two bad roms, 3H and 6H.

I will keep working on this....

Sounds like it works when cold. Get a can of component cooler from Radio Shack or, simply turn a can of 'air' upside down so the liquid comes out. Use that to cool off chips to see which one causes the game to start working again when cold.

Just a stab, but that title screen pic you posted with the regularly-appearing red lines sure reminds me of bad RAM, and if you're saying it gets worse with time, then that also tells me that your bad RAM somewhere is grumpy about the heat.

Assuming you've verified good +5 at the RAM (not the edge connector, but at the chips), hit them with the freeze spray and see if you can clear up the behavior for a bit. Furthermore, if they're socketed, then pull 'em and check for oxidation on the legs or with the sockets.

Pete

I have ordered more ram chips and sockets. I shot the ram chips with canned air and think I have found the bad chip or chips. I will start at that point.

I purchased a second board set and it is having problems with rotating color screens. So I will be trying to solve two board set issues at the same time.

I finally got my sockets last night and removed three RAM chips I thought were bad, but no luck so far, I have 16 chips to replace, so I will be replacing more tonight....

I installed 8 sockets and new ram chips and it seemed to fix the problem, yahoooo!!!

Everything is working great. I now have an extra PCB set with the rotating color screens. A project for another day. I am just happy to get one PCB set working.
