First of all, this kind of stuff is totally not my bag. I'm a rip out and replace kinda guy, not a repair kinda guy. So excuse me if I come off as a noob.

For the last couple weeks, I've been having issues with my Turtles In Time PCB. Specifically some bad sprite issues.

Upon powering on the machine, one of several things will happen.

1. It powers on and plays just fine.
2. The game will boot but all of the sprites (including the say no to drugs seal) will be completely missing.
3. Sprites will appear, but be the wrong color
4. Only half of any given sprite will appear.

All of the memory checks out good on the boot screen.

I'm afraid this is totally out of my depth. Is this a common problem? Most importantly, is it something that is repairable? or should I just start hunting for a new PCB?

Thanks!

Stephan

Could be caused by numerous things...

Scratched/gouged traces, bad ROMs, or a bad custom chip that interfaces with the ROMs.

Common on the Konami boards are bad solder joints on the customs which can cause various graphical issues. They need reflowing, but are surface mount which takes special care.
