I picked up a turtles in time board today and plugged it into my regular TMNT cabinet. When I coin it up, it wants me to push start to choose a turtle. Do I have 2 player ROMs maybe?

I can't select which turtle I want. I can credit up each slot like normal, but then it just says press start under each one. I wired up a start button to player 1 and it worked to start the game. I saw a screenshot of someone else's game recently though, and that one did not say press start.

Go into test mode and see if 'start button/no start button' is a setting.

Nope, nothing that I could find. The I/O test has options for the start button though. The TiT cabinet does not have start buttons though, wtf?

My sunset riders reqires start buttons and I have it in my TMNT cabinet.. I just wired the start buttons from the board to my jump or punch buttons so one of those starts the game

That's weird. I have Sunset Riders, and mine does not require a start button. I wonder if maybe it's an asian/european version of the roms...

I've straight dropped TIT into a TMNT original cab with no need of another start button.

That's what I thought would happen, I've done it with my other Konami boards. I bought the game from a dude in Korea, I'm guessing it has Asian/European roms. I wonder if their cabs had start buttons?

Are you only plugging in the JAMMA connector? Mine does that when I don't plug in the kickharness.

I have the kick harness connected... I know that there are a handful of different 4-player roms. I had someone burn me a set to convert my 2-player into a 4-player and he must have burned the roms that require start buttons. Not a big deal really... I have no problems just hitting the jump button to start the game. Only thing is I have to keep the PCB wired inside the cabinet at all times
