Was there sideart or a special CPO and bezel designed for Turbo Street Fighter II Hyper Fighting? I just picked up a cab today that was converted into Street Fighter and have not been able to find more than two pics of this game that look alike.

Now with that title, I want to be sure what version of SFII you actually have. From the title, it sounds like you have the Japanese SFIIHF version. (or Street Fighter II *dash* Turbo hyper fighting.) if you want to get real technical. lol Do you have the Japanese or USA ver? How to tell the difference is at the title screen intro.

If it's the Japanese TURBO vers, The intro will start of the same, but after Joe knocks Mike out and the screen scrolls up the building and fades. The words T U R B O will scroll across the screen, then It will have a black background with a blue streak box and it will say Street Fighter II' TURBO. That version only came with Japanese marquee cards. The Japanese arcade cabinet set ups are a lot different than ours, so no need for all the extra artwork.

If it's the USA version, after the building fade, the Street Fighter II' logo will spin and go right into the Hyper Fighting screen.

The USA HF version shared everything artwork that the Champion ED had, except the marquee. This is the only place that says the word TURBO on the game or artwork. This was just an upgrade to the Champion edition. Champion ED was out about 6months to a year before Capcom made the HF upgrade that was either a PCB kit with the new HF marquee, or just the 3 eprom chips and HF marquee.

Sorry if I confused you. But there is literally a bunch of versions of SFII. lol

Thanks for the response. i'll have to check that out tommorrow and see what it does when I turn it on. It's crazy how many of these games Capcom made, not to mention all of the bootlegs that were created at the time.

Another thing to note.... Both Champion and HF editions were also put on the big blue cabs. This required a large version of the marquee and overlays, but the art was still the same.

The bootlegs is what started the whole mess. HF was said to be Capcom's response to the hacked bootlegs stardom. The bootlegs caused a huge demand from fans about the speed and special moves that were in the booters.

It's a good read and tells you a bit of the history of this game. But for the love of god.... someone upload some better pics of the machines?

This brings up why you seen so many pics of the game. Origianlly it was planned to be a upgrade kit to existing SFII world warrior cabs, or for generic cabs for swap out. So it's been debated many of times on here that this game never got a dedicated cab. Plus people like myself who have restored these machines, sometimes made custom changes. I did this with the color scheme on both my SFII restores.

The Japanese intro is so much cooler, I wonder why it was modified. Interestingly on the SNES the Japanese intro (and name) was used regardless of region.

I turned it on and it came up with the American intro. Thanks for all of the replies. Now I'm faced with figuring out what was in the cab originally and whether I would want to restore it to the original game.
