It has come to my attention that some Turbos out there have sound issues. I decided to gather every single capacitor on the sound PCB (the small PCB) that could possibly fix any sound issues. Hopefully this will help some people out with any sound problems they are having with their Turbo. I gathered this list from a Sega Turbo 834-0123 Rev. B sound PCB. Here is the list:

If there is enough interest I am willing to make these into cap kits and sell them. I want a minimum of 15 people to be willing to purchase a cap kit and a maximum of 20. If there is a demand for more I am sure I will make more in the future. They will be $20 shipped. I will be using the cap supplier "uxcell." Here is the list of the people willing to purchase a cap kit:

(1)Earblast - 1 set
(2)GoldenAge - 1 set

Turbo's have sound board issues.. I had to buy a couple before I got one that worked.

Good Luck! that's a lot of caps..

Mark..

I have sound! just got 4 boards with no cars, have the track :( why is this game so flakey :(

This game has some pretty wierd problems. Every once in awhile when I would turn on my Turbo it would freeze at the track and nothing else would happen. I bought Matt Osborn's freeplay chip and it worked fine after that.

I'd be interested in such a kit, assuming the caps are the likely issue. I'd wondered about this, as Zaxxon is known to have sound issues due to caps.

I used to have one that spelled everything wrong, even after verifying all the roms.

would be interested in that, how do I go about getting that kit?

My Turbo seems to have a different problem every time I turn it on. Never had a problem with sound on mine, mostly graphical issues. So flakey.

I have heard of people running Pole Position on MAME..sounds like it would be a lot of work to get the steering wheel, pedal, and shifter all to work.

Mine all work just fine. Some people get picky on what components to use to make everything work, but it sure makes me happy to see the kids playing it, rather than seeing a huge dead game cabinet just sitting there.

what did you use to get the wheel and pedals to work, shifter is easy as just 2 microswitches I think, mine has been down since December :(

Agreed. I picked up a water-damaged Pole Position last December. That thing was horrible. Hacked wiring, corrosion all over the PCB, missing wiring harnesses, spiders living in the monitor frame..was bad.

There are instructions out on the interwebs to take a PS/2 mouse and hack it to use the controls for steering wheel and pedals.
