I recently found one of the items on my 'must get' list, and won it on Ebay - A pacman upright. After double checking the pictures, I noticed something I don't ever remember seeing on a Pacman before, a Turbo button.

Since I haven't picked up the cab yet, my guess is it's a hack board or something. Has anyone else seen a Turbo button on the game? If so, what's it supposed to speed up? Thanks!

The Arcadeshop multigame boards use a TURBO button...press the button and hold and Pac/Ms Pac/Jr Pac's speed doubles...

You must have won that one in Painesville, ohio. That one looked like it was in very good shape. other than the turbo button, and the fact that it dose not work. As I am sure you know all of that is fixable though.

It's just a ROM hack that doubles pac's speed when you push it... the mspac at my home ice rink gained that mod in about '86... heh.

dose anyone have the hack where when you press the turbo button, everything speeds up, pac man and the ghosts? and even more so dose anyone know if it can somehow be added to clays 24-in-1?

That's the one. I spoke with him, and my guess is it's something I can fix fairly easy. If it is what I think, it'll take an email or two to Bob Roberts for some parts. If not, I'll probably be posting questions here as time goes on.

There's a few other uprights out there I'm looking for also, but that yellow Pacman always has been a definite 'must have'.

I've never seen that, but of course there's always the chip mod you can do to make everything double speed all the time; once you play at double speed you never want to go back (or is this Ms. Pacman only?).

I think it'd be an interesting game mechanic to have a sort of "speed power bar" that drains as you hold the turbo button but slowly refills as you eat dots and ghosts; anything to make Pac-man fresh again.
