tubes among WG & Electrohome chassis' interchangeable?

Are the tubes among WG 46xx, 49xx and Electrohome G07 interchangeable with each other? I.E., can a tube that was used on a G07 be used on a 4900 chassis, and vice versa? What about WG 7000's? Can tubes from 4900 be used in those? Or G07's?

Yes and no. The picture tubes themselves are all interchangeable (with the exception of the narrow-neck k7000 tubes). But the deflection yokes are NOT. You can swap the tube, but you need to keep the yoke with the chassis. This does mean resetting the convergence when you go over to the other tube. To save time, keep the convergence rings with the tube and swap only the yoke. Mark the rings so you can get them right back where they came from.

Similarly, you can replace the picture tube in an arcade monitor with one from a television set. I know for a fact that the 4600, 4900, G07 and K7000 yokes are all different, but you might get lucky and find a TV with a compatible yoke. Measure the DC resistance across the horizontal and vertical windings of the TV yoke and compare them with the yoke for the chassis you have. If they're within an ohm or two, it'll probably work. If not, swap the monitor yoke onto the tube. I've had great luck with K7000's and newer narrow-neck TV sets being compatible.

The 10-pin 19" K7000's tubes are interchangeable, but not the 8-pin 19" K7000 tubes...

4900 yokes are very similar to G07 yokes, and will work if swapped but won't have perfect deflection.

4900 yokes

It should also be noted that there is both an early version and a later version of the 4900 yoke, and the early version MUST be paired with an early version 4900 chassis. If you mix a yoke from one version with a chassis from the other version, you will get foldover that cannot be adjusted out...
