I'm looking into doing a tube transplant on a working 4900 with brutal screen burn. The 4900 has a 19VLTP22. My donor has no markings and I can't even ID the chassis.

Here's how the yokes measure out:

4900 - 5 ohms, 42 ohms
Unknown - 5 ohms, 60 ohms

Looks close enough for a try. Problen is the donor tube has more pins that the 19VLTP22. See the pics, 4900 tube first and the donor below. What do you think?

You see those two spots next to pins 4 & 12 on the 4900 tube? I've found on donor tubes that sometimes they're populated and sometimes they're not. I'm not sure what they're for. If the neck socket fits, I would try it out.

DOH!

Missed that, sorry. Well, if there's no way to determine what the donor tube is and it's disposable, then I say give it a shot. If the socket will fit, try it with the donor yoke first. You might get lucky. Worst thing would be the image is too far off to be adjusted, requiring a yoke swap.

Here's the problem...The 4900 socket doesn't allow for the 2 extra pins, 3 and 13. Those locations are closed. Think I can drill them out?

Hey Hans,
My experience.......if the neck socket doesn't fit the tube, it won't work.

If you really want to try this thing, don't go drilling holes in the neck socket....snip the two pins off the tube.
