Looks like my heater is shorted on my WG 25" tube in my simpsons cab. I found a free 25" sanyo tv nearby that I'm considering grabbing to tube swap. How can I check compatibility?

Measure the yoke. I used a Sanyo 25" TV for a drop in replacement on a Wells Gardner K7000.

Did you try to rejuvenate it?

Since the tube heater is already shorted, try quickly sparking the heater with with a strong 12V source. Just use two alligator clips connect one clip to one of the heater terminals, then quickly hit the other heater terminal with the other clip.

This will sometimes pop the short without killing the heater.

Strong 12 volt source: Car battery.

Sorry all I'll respond when I get a chance thanks for the ideas, I didn't think to try clearing the short. Wouldn't I at least have some sort of continuity on the heater pins though?

I actually found a sanyo 25" near me I'm gonna go grab for free believe it or not that apparently is an exact tube match for the k7000.

So Ive got the tube out of the TV, but the yoke connector definitely isn't the same. Is it ok if I splice on the old connector?
Absolutely, be sure to keep track of H and V and just use wire nuts until you know they are correct and you don't have to swap either set if you get a mirror or upside down image.

The connectors didn't exactly match so I spliced on the old connector. I matched the colors and the order but I'll double check those
You cant really go off colors to match the yoke wires. Need to ohm them to see which is H and V. If that is wrong it will fry something.

for posterity, the horizontal pair should be relatively low ohms, somewhere between 1-2 ohm, and vertical pair I think is between 7-8 ohm.

also splicing yoke wires is silly. you can buy the correct pins and plugs from APAR, permitting you know how to crimp.

don't be this person:

Alright I'll check the ohms later thanks a bunch everyone. A little bummed about the burn in. The free TV I got had vertical collapse. They mustve just left it like that for days because there's a mean vertical collapse line in the middle of the screen.
