Looks like my heater is shorted on my WG 25" tube in my simpsons cab. I found a free 25" sanyo tv nearby that I'm considering grabbing to tube swap. How can I check compatibility?

Strong 12 volt source: Car battery.Since the tube heater is already shorted, try quickly sparking the heater with with a strong 12V source. Just use two alligator clips connect one clip to one of the heater terminals, then quickly hit the other heater terminal with the other clip.
This will sometimes pop the short without killing the heater.

If you have a piece of crud across the contacts, a car battery will blast that clear. We want clear a short, not weld all of the electrodes together!12v benchtop supply works fine.
Absolutely, be sure to keep track of H and V and just use wire nuts until you know they are correct and you don't have to swap either set if you get a mirror or upside down image. So Ive got the tube out of the TV, but the yoke connector definitely isn't the same. Is it ok if I splice on the old connector?

Are all the connections correct? So I have the new tube in, however all I'm getting is a blank white screen and it smells like burning in the chassis
You cant really go off colors to match the yoke wires. Need to ohm them to see which is H and V. If that is wrong it will fry something. The connectors didn't exactly match so I spliced on the old connector. I matched the colors and the order but I'll double check those
for posterity, the horizontal pair should be relatively low ohms, somewhere between 1-2 ohm, and vertical pair I think is between 7-8 ohm.The connectors didn't exactly match so I spliced on the old connector. I matched the colors and the order but I'll double check those
